J A RESOLUTION:APPROVING THE REPLACEMENT OF
THE CONCRETE WALL OF THE HANDICAPPED RAMP
AT THE COCONUT GROVE SAILING CLUB WITH
METAL GUARD RAILINGS,,AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO WAIVE $2,650 OF THE
RENTALS DUE THE CITY FOR FY184-85 FROM
THE COCONUT GROVE SAILING CLUB TO COVER A
PORTION OF THE COST OF REMOVING THE
CONCRETE WALL' AND PURCHASING AND
INSTALLING METAL GUARD RAILINGS.

'1 WHEREAS, at the City Commission meeting of July 12,
1984, the Coconut o onut Grove Sailing Club requested permission to
apply for a liquor license and to construct a storage shed on

s� the lower level of the Club's facility; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 84-751 was adopted on July 12,
1984 granting and approving the request of the Coconut Grove
Sailing Club conditionally upon removal of the concrete wall
of the handicapped ramp of the Club's building and upon its
replacement with metal guard railings; and
WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Sailing Club requests the
City Commission's approval for the metal guard railings
intended to replace the concrete wall of the handicapped
ramp; and
WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of removing the
concrete wall, purchasing and installing the metal guard
railings is nearly $7,000; and
WHEREAS, the Commodore of the Coconut Grove Sailing
Club has solicited the City's financial assistance in asking
for a waiver of $2,650 of the Fy'84-85 rentals due the City
by said Club; and
WHEREAS, the Property and Lease Management Division of
the Finance Department and the Office of Marina Development
concur in their recommendation to waive the said $2,650
rentals requested by said Club;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The proposed installation of metal guard
railings to replace the concrete wall of the handicapped ramp
of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club's facility is hereby
approved.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
waive $2,650 of the FY184-85 rentals due the City by the
Coconut Grove Sailing Club to cover a portion of removing the
concrete wall, and purchasing and installation costs or
metal guard railings.

Jack Luft, Chief of Transit Planning, Planning Department, for his
review of the specific metal guard railings proposed by the Coconut
Grove Sailing Club to replace the concrete wall of the handicapped
ramp.

It is recommended that the City
Commission adopt the attached reso-
lution approving the replacement of the
concrete wall of the handicapped ramp
at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club with
metal guard railings and authorizing
the City Manager to waive two thousand
six hundred and fifty ($2,650) dollars
of the rental due the City of Miami for
FY 84-85 from the Coconut Grove Sailing
Club, to cover the cost of purchasing
and installing the guard railings.
The Coconut Grove Sailing Club has requested permission to apply
for a liquor license and approval to construct a permanent
storage shed beneath the present building. On July 12, 1984, the
Club's request was brought before the City of Miami Commission
and by Resolution 84-751 was passed and adopted, conditioned upon
the removal of the concrete wall of the handicapped ramp of the
Club's building and replacement with metal guard railings.
Sidney Doren, Commodore of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, met
with Property and Lease Management, Finance Department, and the
Office of Marina Development to discuss demolition of the
concrete wall in existence and its replacement with metal guard
railings. The Club will be responsible for the demolition of the
concrete wall of the ramp and removal of the debris at an
estimated cost in excess of $4,000.
Mr. Doren indicated that he wanted to request
City Commission for the specific metal guard
the Club intends to replace the concrete wall
ramp. Also, a request was made for the City
of purchasing and installing the metal guard
to be $2,650. The Club will advance payment
and this amount will be reduced from future
