A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $25,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND
ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, IN SUPPORT OF
THE 1985 OTI-USA SONG FESTIVAL HELD IN
MIAMI ON OCTOBER 61 1984; SAID ALLOCA-
TION BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL
COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINIS-
TRATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED
JANUARY 24, 1984.
WHEREAS, the Hispanic Heritage Festival Committee planned
the 1985 OTI-USA Song Festival for October 6, 1984; and
WHEREAS, the event was nationally televised from Miami by
275 Spanish International Network stations during prime time; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Motion No. 84-1001 on
September 13, 1984, expressed its intent to allocate $25,000 in
support of the 1985 OTI-USA Song Festival;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section I. An amount not to exceed $25,000 is hereby allo-
cated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, in
support of the 1985 OTI-USA Song Festival held in Miami on Octo-
ber 6, 1984.
Section 2. The herein allocation is conditioned upon sub-
stantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy No.
APM-1-84, dated January 24, 1984.

I hereby certify that the information provided herein is true and
accurate and that the funds provided by the City will be expended
in accordance with the commitments approved by the City
Commission. Furthermore, the City will be provided with an
accounting of expenditures and receipts within thirty (30) days
after the event's conclusion and/or receipt of funds from the
City, whichever is applicable, along with any other documents or
data requested by the City.

Dear Mr. Vazquez:
This is in reference to your request for City support for the
1985 OTI-USA Song Festival.
On September 19, 1984, the City Commission passed a Motion
expressing their intent to support this festival. Please
be advised that according to new administrative procedures,
no funds can be released until the Commission's action is
formalized and an agreement is entered into between the City
of Miami and your organization.
' In our letter of September 19, 1984, we requested that you
submit the completed Special Funding Request application
along with the required documentation to enable us to
=� formalize the Motion. To date we have not received this
documentation. If you intend to pursue your request for
City support, it is absolutely necessary that you submit
this form to our office immediately.
Attached, for your convenience, is another Special Funding
Request application.

Attached is the cover memorandum and resolution submitted by the
Department of Parks and Recreation in connection with the OTI-USA
Song Festival, which was held on October 6, 1984 and was
internationally televised by 275 Spanish International Network
Stations.
On September 13, 1984, by Motion 84-1001, the City Commission
expressed its intent to allocate $25,000 in support of this
festival.
If this item meets with your approval it may be placed on the
December 13th Commission agenda.

of the 1985 OTI-USA Song Festival held

ing Motion No. 84-1001, per the at-
tached resolution."
On September 13, 1984, the City Commission, by Motion No. 84-1001,
expressed its intent to allocate $25,000 in support of the 1985 OTI-
USA Song Festival.
The Song Festival was held in Miami on October 6, 1984, and was
internationally televised by 275 Spanish International Network Sta-
tions during prime time. The song chosen from the event represented
the USA at the OTI International Festival held in Mexico City.
Funding for this allocation is available from Special Programs and
Accounts, Contingent Fund.
