RESOLUTION NO. 84-1501
A RESOLUTION CLOSING, VACATING, ABANDONING
AND DISCONTINUING THE PUBLIC USE OF THAT
PORTION OF THE 10 FOOT ALLEY LOCATED WEST OF
THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF VIRGINIA STREET
AND + 173 NORTH OF THE ZONED NORTH RIGHT-OF-
WAY LINE OF GRAND AVENUE TO ITS CENTER LINE,
SAID ALLEY RUNNING WEST FOR A DISTANCE OF +
106.8 FEET, AND THAT PORTION OF A 10' ALLEY
BEGINNING + 55 FEET WEST OF THE ABOVE -
MENTIONED ALLEY RUNNING WEST FOR A DISTANCE
OF + 55 FEET; ALL AS A CONDITION OF APPROVAL
OF YENTATIVE PLAT NO. 1245, "COCONUT GROVE
ARCADE", SUBJECT TO THE PAYMENT TO THE CITY
OF $100,000 FOR USE BY THE CITY FOR CIVIC
PROJECTS.
WHEREAS, the Miami Zoning Board at its meeting of Novem-
ber 19, 1984, Item No. 4, following an advertised hearing,
adopted Resolution ZB-113-84 by a 9 to 0 vote RECOMMENDING
official vacation and closure of a portion of a street as
hereinafter set forth; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best
interest of the general welfare of the City of Miami and its
inhabitants to grant the vacation and closure of the alleys in
question and deems it advisable to do so;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That portion of the 10 foot alley located
west of the west right-of-way line of Virginia Street and + 173
north of the zoned north right-of-way line of Grand Avenue to its
center line, said alley running west for a distance of + 106.8
feet, and that portion of a 10 foot alley beginning + 55 feet
west of the above -mentioned alley running west for a distance of
+ 55 feet; all as a condition of approval of tentative Plat No.
1245 "COCONUT GROVE ARCADE" are hereby closed, vacated,
abandoned, and discontinued for public use, subject to the
payment to the City of $100,000 for use by the City for civic
projects.

It is recommended by the Zoning Board
that the request for the Official
Vacation and Closure of a 10' alley
located at 3001-3041 Grand Avenue and
3344 and 3356 Virginia Street
approved.
The Zoning Board, at its meeting of November 19, 1984, Item 4, following an
advertised hearing, adopted Resolution ZB 113-84 by a 9 to 0 vote, recommending
approval of the Official Vacation and Closure of a 10' alley located west of
the west right-of-way line of Virginia Street and + 173' north of the zoned
north right-of-way line of Grand Avenue to its cenTer line said alley running
west for a distance of + 106.8', and that portion of a 10' alley beginning +
55' west of the above mentioned alley running west for a distance of + 55 as
a condition of approval of Tentative Plat #1245, "COCONUT GROVE ARCADE".
Four objections received in the mail; three objectors present at the meeting.
Two replies in favor received in the mail; seven proponents present at the
meeting.
Backup information is included for your review.
A RESOLUTION to provide for the above has been prepared by the City Attorney's
Office and submitted for consideration of the City Commission.

which excluded the westerly one inch of the
alley and it was denied by the Plat and Street
Committee as it was considered a subterfuge
of the interpretation ofi the law. Planning
Department concurred with the Committee and
