Carl Kern REFERENCES: January 10, 1985 City Director Commission Agenda Department of Parks ENCLOSURES: and Recreation "It is recommended that the City of Miami participate in the 1985 American Cancer Society/American Lung Associa- tion Golf Card, by offering unlimited rounds of golf at a reduced greens fee rate of $2.00 to each bearer of a 1985 American Cancer Society/American Lung Association Golf Privileges Card Hold- er, during the summer season at the Melreese Golf Course and City of Miami Country Club in Miami Springs, subject to terms described herein, as per the attached resolution." Over the past several years, the City of Miami has participated in golf card programs which support public health organizations in fostering research and promote higher standards of health among our residents. The American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association golf card programs, previously two separate programs, have joined forces in offering the sale of golf privilege cards, which entitle the holder to $2.00 greens fees between May 1 and the close of the sum- mer season (October 30 - November 30, 1985), at the Melreese and Miami Springs Golf Courses. Starting times must be scheduled forty- eight (48) hours in advance for weekday use and after 1:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays, and an electric golf cart is required. Addi- tionally, the City will require each card be signed by the purchaser and be non -transferable. It is, therefore, the recommendation of the Department of Parks and Recreation that this program, which introduces many new golfers to our courses and is a definite advantage to the City, be authorized as per the attached resolution.
