A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $80,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, QUALITY OF LIFE FUND FOR THE RENTAL OF LIGHTING EQUIPMENT FOR THE NATIONAL TELECASTING OF THE MISS TEEN USA PAGEANT, JANUARY 1985 FROM THE MIAMI CONVENTION CENTER. WHEREAS, the Miss Teen USA Pageant to be held at the Miami Convention Center January 1985 is expected to be a very successful event economically benefiting the entire community and attracting much favorable publicity nationally and internationally; and WHEREAS, the City has participated in support of the Miami Host Committee for the Miss Teen USA Pageant arrangements and the significant expenses in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, one of the significant expenses of the Miami Host Committee is to provide lighting equipment sufficient for the telecasting of the Miss Teen USA Pageant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The sum of $80,000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Quality of Life Fund to the Miami Host Committee to cover rental expenses of lighting equipment for the Miss Teen USA Pageant January 1985 national telecast from the Miami Convention Center. Odio' Assistant City Manager DATE: December 19, 1984 FILE: SUBJECT: Resolution Allocating Funds for Leasing Lighting Equipment for Miss Teen USA Pageant, January 1985. REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is recommended the City Commission adopt a resolution allocating $80 000 from Special Programs and Accounts, Quaftty of Life Fund, to the Miami Host Committee for the costs of renting lighting equipment for the national telecasting of the Miss Teen USA Pageant, January 1985 at the Miami Convention Center. The Commission at its meeting of November 15, 1984 allocated funding in the amount of $200,000 for permanent lighting fixtures for the Miami Convention Center, to be used for the Miss Teen USA Pageant scheduled for January 1985. Although specifications have been prepared for the purchase of additional lighting equipment, this equipment cannot be delivered in time for the Pageant. Therefore, the attached resolution allocates an additional $80,000 from the General Fund for the rental of lighting equipment for the January Pageant. The purchase of the permanent lighting equipment for the Center is still being bid and will be submitted in a subsequent resolution at a later date. cc: Dean Hofineister Law Department Thom Connors
