Home My WebLink AboutR-85-0026A V J-85-22 M84-967 8/13/84 RESOLUTION NO., A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $8,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, IN SUPPORT OF THE FASHIONSPREE SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN TO BE HELD AT THE COCONUT GROVE EXHIBITION CENTER ON FEBRUARY 21-23, 1985; SAID ALLOCATION CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO.APM-1--84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984. WHEREAS, the National Council of Jewish Women initially requested a 50% reduction in the rental cost of the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center in the amount of $6,000 in support of its 1985 FashionSpree scheduled for February 21-23, 1985; and WHEREAS, this organization has requested an additional sum of $2,000 in reduction of the rental fee in order to enable them to defray the cost of event personnel at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center. WHEREAS, this Council has successfully conducted such activities over the past 12 years in an effort to raise funds for its multi -faceted community service projects; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Motion 84-967, of September 13, 1984, expressed its intent to grant a reduction in the rental fees for the event= NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $8,000 is hereby allo- cated from Special Programs and Accounts,, Contingent Fund, in support of the FashionSpree, sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women, to be held at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center on February 21-23, 1985. Section 2. The herein allocation is conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy No. APM-1-84, dated January 24, 1984. This resolution formalizes motion 84-96T in support of a reduction in rental fees at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center for the Fashionspree to be held February 21-239 1985, sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women; said allocation conforming to Administrative Policy Manual 1-84, dated January 24, 1984, per the attached resolution. On September 13, 1984, the City Commission passed Motion 84-967, which allocated a sum not to exceed $69000.00 in support of a reduction in rental fees at the Coconut Grove Exhibition center for the Fashionspree to be held February 21-23, 1985, sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women. The attached resolution reflects an increase of $2,000.00. This organization has requested an additional amount of $29000.00 to enable them to defray the cost of event personnel. Funds to cover the $2,000.00 reduction in rental fees are available from Special Programs and Accounts, Gontingent Fund. This action involves an internal transfer of funds. Attached is the resolution and cover memorandum submitted by the Office of Auditoriums in connection with the FashionSpree to be held at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center on February 21-23, 1985, sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women. The Council has successfully conducted such activities over the past twelve years for the benefit of its multi -faceted community service projects. On September 13, 1984, the City Commission passed Motion 84-967, expressing its intent to allocate a sum not to exceed 6 000 in support of the FashionSpree. The National Council of Jewish Warren has requested an additional sum of $2,000 to enable them to defray the cost of event personnel. In the past, this event was held in Bayfront Park Auditorium; however, this facility is no longer available and they will be using the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center at an increased cost. The Office of Auditoriums recommends that this additional amount be granted.
