FOR FURNISHING ONE (1) ANTENNA TOWER, INCLUDING ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS FOR INSTALLATION, TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL COST OF $19,192.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1984-85 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FUND; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received November 28, 1984 for the furnishing of One (1) Complete i 100 ft. Monopole Antenna Tower, including all labor and materials for installation, on a short-term contract basis until final acceptance, to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance. WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 57 potential suppliers and 1 bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Project Fund; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing new fixed -site equipment required by contract with Motorola, Inc. for support of a Radio Antenna in the 800 MHz Communication System; and WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the bid received from Ellis Tower Company, Inc. be accepted as the -.� lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The November 28, 1984 bid of Ellis Tower Company, Inc. for furnishing One (1) 100 ft. Antenna Tower, including all Labor and Materials for Installation, to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total cost of $19,192.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Project Fund. Minority Vendors who are interested in submitting proposals and who are not registered with the City as minority vendors are advised to contact the City Purchasing Office, 1145 N.W. llth Street, Room 126, Telephone 579-6380. THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAIN- TENANCE RECOMMENDS THAT A RESOLUTION BE PAS- SED AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO ELLIS TOWER CO., INC., FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF AN ANTENNA TOWER, 100 FT. HIGH, TO SUPPORT THE CITY-WIDE 800 MHz COMMUNI- CATIONS SYSTEM AT A TOTAL COST OF $19,192.00. This resolution is being requested in order to fulfill re- quirements of the City-wide 800 MHz Communications System contract. By contract, the City has to provide a 100 ft. monopole type tower for mounting a radio antenna in the northwest section of the City. This antenna site is part of fixed site equipment required to support the 800 MHz communications system for use by Fire, Police and Local Government radio users. Only one (1) bid was received on City Bid # 84-85-21 from the Ellis Tower Co., Inc. for a total bid of $19,192, for the antenna tower. There were eight (8) "no bids." The Antenna Tower bid by the Ellis Tower Company meets all specifications of Bid #84-85-21. The bid is in line with published prices by the tower manufacturer. Funds for the purchase of this tower are available from FY 184-85 Capital Improvement Project Funds (Project # 314021) .
