OF FLORIDA AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $70,000.00 AND FEDAN TIRE COMPANY AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $5,000.00 FOR FURNISHING TIRE RECAPPING AND REPAIR SERVICES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL COST OF $75,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1984-85 OPERATING BUDGET OF THAT DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received November 26, 1984 for the furnishing of Tire Recapping and Repair Services, to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance. WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 30 potential suppliers and 5 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1984-85 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of recapping and repairing tires; and WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the bids received from P.R.I.D.E. of Florida and Fedan Tire Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bids; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The November 26, 1984 bid of P.R.I.D.E.of Florida at a proposed cost of $70,000.00 and Fedan Tire , Inc. at a proposed cost of $5,000 for furnishing Tire Recapping and Repair Services to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance at a total cost of $75,000.00 are hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1984-85 Operating Budget. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Purchasing Officer to issue Purchase Orders for this service. THE BID OF P.R.I.D.E. OF FLORIDA FOR TIRE RECAPPING SERVICES AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $70,000.00, AND THE BID OF FEDAN TIRE COM- PANY FOR SECTION REPAIR SERVICE AT AN ESTI- MATED COST OF $5,000.00. Five bids were received on Bid $84-85-22 on November 26, 1984 for tire recapping and repair services. The bid of P.R.I.D.E. of Florida is the lowest acceptable bid for tire recapping service and Fedan Tire Company is the lowest acceptable bid for section repair service. These bids will provide all of the City Garage Division's tire recapping and repair services for a one year period at an estimated cost of $75,000.00. Previous City bids for this service. t Minority response consisted only of two (2) bids from Hispanic businesses. BID EVALUATION: All bids meet specifications. The bid consisted of 4 Specified Tire sizes and 7 Balance of Line Sizes and requested bids for each on Hot Cap, Cold Cap and Section Repairs, for both On -and Off -Road Tread. Because is not administratively feasible to send tires of different sizes to different contractors for varied services, a split award for small items is not recommended. Award is recommended to the low bidder overall for Recap Services, and the low bidder overall for Repairs Services.
