TO: Randolph.'=B.:-Rbsencr. ant'z City Manage CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE: December 26, 1984 ME - SUSPECT: Funding request - Puerto Rican Opportunity Center FROM: REFERENCES: Frank Castaneda, Director City Commission Meeting Department of Community Development ENCLOSURES: January 10, 1985 C C F It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a resolution allocating $60,000 from excess revenues from Utility Service Taxes to the Puerto Rican Opportunity Center to continue the agency's employment referral/placement and job skills training project in the Wynwood target area for the period February 1, 1985 through September 30, 1985. At its meeting of December 20, 1984, the City Commission passed a motion which expressed its intent to allocate $60,000 to the Puerto Rican Opportunity Center (P.R.O.C.) to continue the agency's employment referral/placement and job skills training project for the period February 1, 1985 through September 30, 1985. This project operated during FY183-84 with Community Development Emergency Jobs Bill funds and was contracted to provide services through September 30, 1984. However, the City Commission has allocated P.R.O.C. $53,332 of 1984-85 Federal Revenue Sharing Funds to continue operation of the jobs bill project for the period October 1, 1984 through January 31, 1985. Adoption of this resolution would effectuate the motion passed by the City Commission at its December 20 meeting and bring the total level of funding to this project for the period October 1, 1984 through September 30, 1985 to $113,332. The $60,000 allocation will come from excess revenues from Utility Service Taxes. - 1 -
