AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1 AND 6 OF ORDINANCE NO. 9901
ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 214 1984, THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS
ORDINANCE FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1985, BY
INCREASING THE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE GENERAL FUND, PLANNING
DEPARTMENT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,000 AND BY INCREASING
GENERAL FUND REVENUE, MISCELLANEOUS REVENUE IN A LIKE
AMOUNT, TO REFLECT A CITY/DADE COUNTY AGREEMENT DATED AUGUST
23, 1984, AND FINALIZED ON OCTOBER 161 1984, WHICH PROVIDES
FOR A PLANNER III POSITION WHICH IS FUNDED FROM A U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE GRANT AWARD TO THE CITY OF MIAMI
THROUGH METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY, COVERING THE PERIOD APRIL
1, 1984 THROUGH MARCH 31, 1985, SAID POSITION WILL CONDUCT
PLANNING ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND STRATEGY; CONTAINING A
REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 9901 on September 21,
1984 establishing revenues and appropriations for the City of Miami, Florida,
for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1985; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has received a grant award of $42,000 from the
U.S. Department of Commerce to fund a Planner III position to conduct planning
activities associated with the City's Comprehensive Economic Development Plan
and Strategy; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Commerce would like to funnel these funds
through Metropolitan Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami authorized a contract with Metropolitan Dade
County by Resolution No. 84-870 passed on July 31, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County authorized a contract with the City of
Miami by Resolution No. R-1433-84, on October 16, 1984; and
WHEREAS, the City's Finance Department, pursuant to generally accepted
accounting
principals, recommends that the revenues and expenses for the grant
award be accounted for in the FY'85 Annual Appropriations Ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. Sections 1 and 6 of Ordinance No. 9901, adopted on September
21, 1984, the Annual Appropriations Ordinance for the fiscal year ending
September 30, 1985 as amended is hereby further amended in the following
particulars: 1/

Section 2. The herein appropriation of $42,000 into the General Fund,
Planning Department and the corresponding increase in General Fund Revenues,
Miscellaneous Revenues, is to provide for a Planner III position which is funded

"�, pM ENCLOSURES:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the
attached ordinance increasing the appropriations for the
Planning Department in the amount of $42,000 to reflect a
City/Dade County agreement. This agreement provides for a
Planner III position funded from a U.S. Department of
Commerce grant award to conduct planning activities
associated with the City's Comprehensive Economic
Development Plan and Strategy.
The City of Miami has received a grant award from the U.S. Department of
Commerce in the amount of $42,000 covering the period April 1, 1984 through
March 31, 1985 to fund a Planner III position to conduct planning activities
associated with the City's Comprehensive Economic Development Plan and Strategy.
Said grant was funneled through Metropolitan Dade County government at the
request of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The City and Metropolitan Dade
County have entered into an agreement dated August 23, 1984 and finalized on
October 16, 1984 pursuant to County Resolution No. R-1433-84.
The City's Finance Department, pursuant to generally accepted accounting
principals, recommends that the revenue and expenses for this grant be accounted
for in the FY185 Annual Appropriations Ordinance.
The attached proposed ordinance has been prepared for the December 13, 1984 City.
Commission meeting.
