Rosencrantz of Jan. 18 In response to your requests for information related to the development of the North and South Substations for the Miami Police Department, the following report has been prepared by the Special Projects Task Force Division of my office. While the accompanying schedule is a preliminary one, every effort has been and will continue to be made to streamline and accelerate the process when possible. At the City Commission meeting of February 14, the Police Dept. will be making a presentation on the functions and activities proposed for both Substations, and the fiscal impact of providing service to the community from three locations, the North and South Substations and the existing Central Headquarters Facility. Dawkins Question 1 —Nas an architect been selected? No. Upon acceptance by the City Commission of the proposed activities to take place in the Substations, Requests for Proposals will be solicited from Architects. A separate design team will be chosen for each substation. Questions 2 & 3 Has the land been identified? Has it been secured? Yes. North Substation: A lease agreement is being prepared by Dade County for a 1.5 acre tract of land at 1060 N.W. 62 St. The City Attorney will be receiving a copy of this document for review during the last week of February. South Substation: Two of the twelve potential sites identified remain under final consideration. Once the building program is final, a choice will be made. Question 4 Is the $10 million dollars on hold for the construction of the two facilities? Sufficient funding is available through the Bond Program. Question 5 What is the schedule worked out by the "Fast -Track -Team"? The Special Projects Task Force, working in conjunction with the Police Department has developed the attached schedule. Building program must be approved at this time in order to proceed with the next step. FW 2P March 1985 Ratification of Agreements for Professional Design Services and commencement of Design of Substations. Sites must be identified at this time. Please place on the agenda for discussion during the January 24, 1985 commission meeting the status report on construction of Police Stations in Liberty City and Little Havana. I have the following questions: 1. Has an architect be selected? 2. Has the land been identified? 3. If land is identified, has it been secured? 4. Is the $10 million dollars on hold for the construction of the two facilities? 5. What is the schedule worked out by the "Fast -Track -Team?"
