BS►-'1�G'�-- A RESOLUTION RETAINING THE LAW FIRM OF GREENBERG TRAURIG ASKEW HOFFMAN LIPOFF ROSEN & QUENTEL TO SERVE AS LOCAL BOND CO -COUNSEL TO ASSIST THE FIRM OF BROWN, WOOD, IVEY, MITCHELL & PETTY WITH RESPECT TO THE 1985 SALE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI. WHEREAS, on February 3, 1984, the City Commission accepted the recommendation of the City Manager for the selection of local bond co -counsel to assist the City's out-of-state counsel, Brown, Wood, Ivey, Mitchell & Petty, with respect to the sale and issuance of City bonds; and WHEREAS, the City Administration is preparing the 1985 sale of general obligation Bonds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE. IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The law firm of Greenberg Traurig Askew Hoffman Quentel Lipoff Rosen_& / is hzFeby retained to serve as co -counsel to assist the, firm of Brown,. Wood, Ivey, Mitchell & Petty, with respect to.the 1985 sale and issuance of General Obligation Bonds of the City of Miami. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14 day of February , 1985. LPH G. ENCLOSURES: k It is recommended that the attached Reso- lution retaining the firm of to serve as local bond co -counsel to assist the firm of Brown, Wood, Ivey, Mitchell & Petty, with respect to the 1985 sale of General _ Obligation Bonds of the City of Miami be adopted. On February 3, 1984, the City Commission accepted the recommendations of the City Manager for the selection of local bond co -counsel to assist the firm of Brown, Wood Ivey, Mitchell & Petty, with respect to the sale of future City of Miami Bonds. The City Manager's recommendation included a list of firms whose qualifications included the following: _ a. Assurance that a senior partner with expertise in bond financing will be responsible for the legal work and will be -' accessible to the City to answer inquiries and discuss the progress of the issue from time to time. b. Evidence of depth of legal talent with capacity to handle bond work. x C. Expertise in the field of federal income tax, project funding or other applicable specialized areas. _ d. Have a principal office in the Miami area. e. Provide assurance of representative minority partnership in the firm. f. Provide evidence of volume of pro bono work performed within a = the City of Miami. tl' " aa; P�x s x Of the firms included in the original list of qualified firms, the following have already been retained for the bond issues indicated: Broad & Cassell 1984 General Obligation Sale — Fine Jacobson Block & Klein, Affordable Housing Revenue Bonds Sparber Shevin Shapiro & Heilbroner, Bayside Garage Therefore, the remaining list of firms included in the City Manager's recommendation is as follows: Squire Sanders & Dempsey Myers Keein Levinson Ruffner Frank & Richards Morgan Lewis & Bockius Greenberg Traurig Askew Hoffman Lipoff Rosen & Quentel Cohen Shapiro Polisher Shiekman & Cohen Paul Landy Beiley & Harper Britton Cohen Cassel Kaufman & Schantz Ackerman Senterfitt & Eidson * This firm requested to be included in the list of bond co- - counsel on January 9, 1985 and was determined to meet the qualifications.
