HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0145RESOLUTION Not � _ ��► A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND STANLEY, HOtCOMBE & ASSOC, FOR ACTUARIAL EXPERIENCE SERVICES AS REQUIRED BY THE MIAMI CITY GENERAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT PLAN, USING FUNDS THEREFOR NOT TO EXCEED $6,000,00 FROM CURRENTLY APPROPRIATED PUN0S. WHEREAS, under Section 40-234(v) of the Miami City Code, the Miami City General Employees' Retirement Plan Board is required to cause an actuarial investigation to be made into the Plan's experience, and WHEREAS, the Miami. City General Employees' Retirement Plan Board has designated Stanley, Holcombe & Assoc., to conduct such investigation; and WHEREAS, monies for said actuarial experience investigation are available from currently appropriated funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Professional Services Agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, between the City of Miami and Stanley, Holcombe & Assoc. for professional actuarial experience services to be provided to and as required by the Miami City General Employees' Retirement Plan Board using funds therefor, not to exceed $6,000.00 from Account #440102-00210, Plan Trust and Agency Fund Professional Services/Actuary. Dougherty City Attorney DATE: January 24, 1985 F,LE:J-85-113 "I'L`professional Services Agreement Resolution REFERENCES: Actuarial Services for Pension Board (System) ENCLOSURES: Resolution The Pension Department has requested that we prepare the attached Resolution allowing -hat the City Manager enter into a Professional Services Agreement with Stanley, Holcombe & Assoc. for actuarial services as required in Section 40-206(s)(w) of the Miami City Code. This is a specific requirement of the Code which mandates that the Board shall designate and select an actuary who shall be the technical advisor to the Board in matters regarding the operations of the funds and shall make annual actuarial valuation of the assets and liabilities of the funds of the Retirement System. The Retirement Board has selected Stanley, Holcombe & Assoc. as their actuary and the City Attorney's office will review and approve any contractual agreement. The Retirement Board has selected Stanley, Holcombe & Assoc, ta.perform the three (3) year experience study and the City Attorneys office will review and approve any con- tractual agreement.
