FOR FURNISHING RADIOLOGY SERVICES ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR RENEWABLE ANNUALLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AT A TOTAL PROPOSED FIRST YEAR COST OF $20,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1984-85 OPERATING BUDGETS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO = INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. — WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received January 9, 1985 for the furnishing of Radiology Services on a contract basis for one year renewable annually to the Department of Human Resources; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 32 potential suppliers and 13 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1984-85 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Human Resources for the purpose of providing back X-rays of employment candidates for the Department of Police and the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services;and WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the Human Resources recommend that the bid received from Clinical Las Mercedes, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The January 9, 1985 bid of Clinica Las Mercedes, Inc. for furnishing Radiology Services on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually to the Department of Human Resources at a total proposed first year cost of $20,000.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1984-85 Operating Budgets of the Department of Police and the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Bellamy FROM:Acting Director Department of Human Resources DATE: January 23, 1985 FILE: SUSPECT: Recommendation for Resolution and Award of Bid: No. 84-85-369 Radiology Services REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Award of Bid and Resolution It is recommended that the award be made and a resolution be passed accepting the most advanta eous bid as received from linica Las Mercedes, Incorporated for furnishing adolo Services on a con- tract basis for one year at a total estimated cost of $20,000.00. In accordance with public notice requirements, sealed bids were requested December 19, 1984, and received January 9, 1985, to furnish radiology services on a contract basis for one year to the Department of Human Resources. Invitations were mailed out to 32 potential suppliers, and 13 bids were received. The need for the services of a radiologist is outlined in Section 3(f) of Ordinance No. 8526 adopted by the City Commission on January 20, 1976, and in Administrative Policy No. APM-6-78 issued by the City Manager on September 1, 1978. The specifica- tions for this mandate are for the Department of Human Resources to establish and maintain medical services for employees injured in the line of duty, a preventive medical program, and liaison with medical professions. By not having radiology facilities available within the City, it was necessary over previous years to contract this service out to other agencies or physicians. The departments requesting radiology services have made provi- sions within their respective 1984-85 operating budgets to defray the costs. Two departments that make exclusive use of these ser- vices are Fire and Police for pre -employment medical evaluations. It is estimated that 720 applicants will be X-rayed during the contract period. The recommended bidder, Clinica Las Mercedes, Inc., is a Hispanic -American organization and was awarded the bid under 85-136 N -21 W Randolph B. The contract for radiology services is to commence upon the date - of award and will continue for one year.
