A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE COMPLETED WORK OF
` BETTER CONSTRUCTION, INC., AT A TOTAL COST
OF $904,064.23 FOR JOSE MARTI RIVERFRONT
PARK -PHASE II,(2ND BIDDING); AND AUTHORIZING
FINAL PAYMENT 01' $60,968.83

WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated December 5th,
1983, between the City of Miami, Florida and Better Construction,
Inc., for Jose Marti Riverfront Park - Phase II (2nd Bidding);
and
WHEREAS, the work has been satisfactorily completed
and Better Construction, Inc., has furnished the required
documents certifying that all bills for labor and materials in
connection with the project have been paid in full; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Public Works recommend acceptance of the completed
work and final payment of $60,968.83 to Better Construction, Inc.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMKISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The completed work performed by Better
r Construction, Inc., for Jose Marti Riverfront Park - Phase II
(2nd Bidding) is hereby accepted at a total cost of $904,064.23.
Section 2, The proper officials of the City of Miami,
Florida are hereby authorized to pay Better Construction, Inc.,
u a balance of $60,968.83 as just and complete payment for all
work performed and all materials furnished in connection with
the aforesaid contract.

The Department of Public Works recommends the
adoption of a resolution accepting the
completed work of Better Construction, Inc.,
at a total cost of $904,064.23 for Jose Marti
Riverfront Park - Phase II (2nd Bidding), and
authorizing final payment of $60,968,83.
Better Construction, Inc., has completed the -project known as
Jose Marti Riverfront Park - Phase II (2nd Bidding) under a contract
dated December 5, 1983 with the City of Miami,

The work consisted of the construction of the second phase of a
■'.
major City park on the south side of the Miami River between S. W.
3 and 4 Avenues. The work included the construction of a lighted
ballfield, an entrance plaza, a fountain, landscaping, irrigation,
and lighting.

The original contract amount was for $907,943, and the cost of the
completed construction is $904,064.23. The project was completed
in accordance with an agreement negotiated with the contractor
after construction had begun whereby he agreed to substantially com-
400 plete the project by September 30, 1984, to enable the City of
Miami to receive a large Federal Grant used to fund the project.

The City did receive the Grant.

It is now in order for the Commission to accept the completed work
and authorize final payment after all conditions are met,
