J-85-161 RESOLUTION NO. 85-1.9 4 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $62,085 FROM THE GENERAL FUND: SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS: CONTINGENT FUND TO JAMES E. SCOTT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TO PROVIDEt $10,000 TOWARD THE AGENCY'S NEIGHBORHOOD ANTI -CRIME PROGRAM, $10,085 TOWARD COMPUTERIZATION OF THE AGENCY'S ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT AND $42,000 FOR THE AGENCY'S COMPUTER TRAINING PROJECT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED AGENCY IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY. WHEREAS, James E. Scott Community Association is a non-profit organization which provides social services to City of Miami residents; and WHEREAS, James E. Scott Community Association has requested financial support from the City of Miami for its neighborhood anti -crime program, computerization of its accounting department and operation of its computer training project; and WHEREAS, City staff had previously recommended that the James E. Scott Community Association receive partial funding for the neighborhood anti -crime project and computerization of the accounting department with FY 1983-84 funds and the balance with FY 1984-85 funds; and WHEREAS, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 84-665 which allocated $15,000 to the James E. Scott Community Association from FY 1983-84 Special Programs and Accounts: Contingent Fund which provided funds for the period June 14, 1984- September 30, 1984 to the neighborhood anti -crime project and to computerize the agency's accounting department; and WHEREAS, James E. Scott Community Association has received $18,000 from the Eisenhower Foundation for the neighborhood anti - crime program; and WHEREAS, James E. Scott Community Association has received $20,000 from Dade County to support its computerization efforts; and WHEREAS, the neighborhood anti -crime program will assist in improving the quality of life of City of Miami residents; and WHEREAS, the computerization of the Agency's accounting department will improve the delivery of services to city residents; and CITY C01�111-11S�i©IV MEETING OF F ION sd vy r:w WHEREAS, the computer training project will provide job training which will enable City residents to qualify for jobs in computer related occupations; and WHEREAS, the James E. Scott Community Association needs an additional $10,000 to continue its neighborhood anti -crime program through September 30, 1985, $10,085 for the computerization of the accounting department and $42,000 to operate the computer training project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A total of $62,085 from Special Programs and Accounts: Contingent Fund is hereby allocated to James E. Scott Community Association for the period October 1, 1984 through September 30, 1985, as specified below: ACTIVITY AMOUNT Neighborhood Anti -Crime Program $10,000 Computer Training Project 42,000 Computerization of Accounting Department 10,085 TOTAL $62,085 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into agreement with the above Agency in the amount specified herein for the activities specified in Section 1.
