Home My WebLink AboutR-85-017104 61 J-85-232 r 2/26/85 rr/046/D-T RESOLUTION N0 8J 171 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR AND THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO PROVIDE THAT AN OPPORTUNITY BE GIVEN THOSE STUDENTS WHO STUDIED ORAL SURGERY ABROAD PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF LAW WHICH EXISTED IN t 1980 TO TAKE THE CURRENT FLORIDA ORAL SURGERY BOARD EXAMINATION; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO SEND THIS RESOLUTION BY TELEGRAM TO CERTAIN 1 OFFICIALS NAMED HEREIN. 'IVY i WHEREAS, it has been reported that a group of North American Students who have studied oral surgery abroad are � r being denied the opportunity to take the Florida State Oral Surgery Board Examination; and WHEREAS, these students have studied in foreign Latin American universities which have been heretofore recognized by the federal government; and WHEREAS, many of these students have received federal and private loans to finance their study and these loans will have to be repaid; and WHEREAS, many of these students have already Gk=� *t ~ demonstrated their knowledge and capability by having ., y practiced effectively in a status recognized by the Florida Board of Dentistry by virtue of the provisions of law which ' existed in 1980; 3 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Governor and the Florida Legislature are hereby requested to provide that an opportunity be given 'F^ those students who studied oral surgery abroad pursuant to 4 the provisions of law which existed in 1980 to take the current Florida Oral Surgery Board Examination. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send this resolution by telegram to the following: Governor Graham, President of the Florida Senate, Speaker of the House SSIV of Representatives and to each member of the Im MEETING OF Legislative Delegation.
