HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0298J-85-352a RESOLUTION NO. 85-;496 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE PAYMENTS TOTALING $15,600 TO WINGERTER LABORATORIES, INC., FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING TESTING PERFORMED IN CONNECTION WITH DINNER KEY MARINA REDEVELOPMENT, WITH FUNDS FOR THE PAYMENTS TO BE PROVIDED FROM RETAINED EARNINGS FROM MARINA OPERATIONS WHEREAS, in accordance with the Agreement dated October 27, 1982, between the City of Miami and Greenleaf/ Telesca, Planners, Engineers, Architects, Inc., hereinafter called the Consultants, the City is to furnish test data - and services; as required by the Consultant, to -perform his. -- basic services; and WHEREAS, test core borings were requested by the Consultant; and WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, following prescribed procedures for the selectionof firms to do - professional engineering testing, authorized Wingerter Laboratories, Inc., to perform the testing; and WHEREAS, the required testing has been satisfactorily performed by Wingerter Laboratories, Inc., and they have billed the City in the amount of $15,600 for the work; and WHEREAS, the City :Manager -and the -Director of Pub1•i-c Works recommend payment of the bills as legitimate and reasonable professional engineering testing costs for the project; and WHEREAS, funds for the payment of the bills are available from Retained Earnings from Marina Operations; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make payment to Wingerter Laboratories, Inc., in the amount of $15,600 for Professional Engineering Testing performed for the Dinner Key Marina Redevelopment, with funds for the payment to come from Retained Earnings from Marina Operations. The Department of Public Works recommends the adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to make payments totaling $15,600 to Wingerter Laboratories, Inc., for professional engineering tests performed in connection with the Dinner Key Marina Redevelopment, with funds for the payments to be provided from Retained Earnings from Marina Operations. There exists an Agreement between the City of Miami and Greenleaf/ Telesca, Planners -Engineers -Architects, Inc., hereinafter called the Consultants, for the design and preparation of plans and specifications for the redevelopment of the Dinner Key Marina. The Agreement stipulates that the City would furnish the Consult- ants with the test data and services required by them to perform the basic services covered by the Agreement. During the course of the design, the Consultants requested that we engage a testing laboratory to take test core borings of various locations within the job site, and this department authorized Wingerter Laboratories, Inc., to perform the testing, using the prescribed procedures we regularly employe to. -make. the selection. The work has been satisfactorily performed by Wingerter Labora- tories, Inc., and they have billed the City in the amount of $15,600 for the work. This department considers the testing necessary and recommends payment of the bills as legitimate and reasonable professional engineering testing costs for the project.
