HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0277J-85-235 j RESOLUTION NO. $5-2 f A RESOLUTION FORMALLY ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM MR. AND MRS. SIDNEY M. FELDMAN OF A SCULPTURE ENTITLED "HOKUSAI'S WAVE 1981" BY ARTIST JACK YOUNGERMAN. WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney M. Feldman, owners of a sculpture entitled Hokusai's Wave 1981" by artist Jack Youngerman, informed the City of their desire to donate said sculpture to the City for placement at the City of Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International Center; and WHEREAS, on December 4, 1984, the Art in Public Places Committee unanimously recommended that the City accept the sculpture with said terms; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The sculpture entitled "Hokusai's Wave 1981" by artist Jack Youngerman, and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney M. Feldman is hereby accepted as a donation from Mr. and Mrs. Feldman to the City of Miami. Feldman for placement at the City of Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International Center, per the attached resolution. The City has been contacted by Mr. & Mrs. Sidney M. Feldman who are desirous of donating a sculpture, "Hokusai's 'gave 1981" by artist Jack Youngerman, to the City of Miami for placement in the interior of the City of Miami /University of Miami James L. Knight International Center, The City's Art in Public Places Committee, at a December 1964 meeting, recommended that the City accept the donation,. Mr. & Mrs. Feldman have indicated that they would like the sculpture to be placed on exhibit inside the Center. The Convention Center staff have also recommended acceptance of the donation and have identified a site for its placement on the promenade level , close to the foot of the escalator.
