HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0271IJ l J-85-302 3/13/85 rr/069/D-A M85-92 (2/14/85) RESOLUTION NO. 85-2'71 A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE ALLOCATION OF AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, TO COVER THE EXPENSES OF A SELECT COMMITTEE WHICH TRAVELLED TO ARIZONA, IN ORDER TO MAKE A PRESENTATION BEFORE THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE MEETING MARCH 11-15, 1985, TO SECURE A COMMITMENT THAT THE 1989 SUPER BOWL GAME BE PLAYED IN MIAMI AND THE DESIGNATON OF VICE -MAYOR JOE CAROLLO TO ACT AS LIAISON FOR THE CITY COMMISSION. i s BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The allocation of an amount not to exceed $5,000 from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to cover the expenses of a select committee which travelled to Arizona in order to make a presentation at the National Football League Meeting March 11-15, 1985 to secure a commitment that the 1989 Super Bowl Game be played in Miami, and the designation of Vice -Mayor Joe Carollo to act as liaison for the City Commission, are hereby ratified and confirmed. Golby ""� REFERENCES: Stadiums Administrator Draft Resolution ENCLOSURES: The Office of Stadiums recommends the adoption of a resolution to formalize Motion 85-92 of the February 14, 1985 Commission meeting. This motion authorized the City Manager to allocate up to $5,000 for a committee to travel to the N.F.L. meeting in Phoenix to make a presentation before the League to bring the 1989 Super Bowl to Miami. A Super Bowl Task Force Committee was formed to make a presentation to the team owners at the N.F.L.'s meeting in Phoenix on March 13th and 14th. An allocation of up to $5,000 is needed to prepare and make a presentation at this meeting. Vice -Mayor Carollo was designated as the City Commission's liasion for the committee. U. I
