RESOLUTION NO. 85`258
A RESOLUTION RESCINDING THE BID AWARD TO
MEDCO INTERNATIONAL FOR FURNISHING SIX (6)
LO-BOY TRACTORS AT A TOTAL COST OF
$31,890.00, BECAUSE SAID FIRM HAS GONE OUT
OF BUSINESS AND CANNOT SUPPLY THE TRACTORS
AS BID, FURTHER ACCEPTING THE BID OF MJASSEY
FERGUSON, THE NEXT LOWEST RESPONSIBLE AND
RESPONSIVE BIDDER, FOR FURNISHING SAID
EQUIPMENT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING
AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED
COST OF $34,740.00 WITH FUNDS THEREFOR
PREVIOUSLY ALLOCATED UNDER RESOLUTION NO.
85-132 ADOPTED FEBRUARY 14, 1985 IN THE
1984-85 OPERATING BUDGET OF SAID
DEPARTMENT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT CHIEF
PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE
ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the replacement of worn and obsolete equipment
is vital for the operation of various City Departments; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received December 14, 1984 and a purchase was duly awarded on
February 14, 1985 by Resolution No. 85-132 to Medco International
for furnishing six (6) Lo-Boy Tractors; and
WHEREAS, said firm, Medco International has gone out of
business; and
riHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department
of of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of
replacing worn and obsolete equipment; and
WHEREAS, the bid of Massey Ferguson is the next lowest
responsible and responsive bid meeting all requirements for this
herein equipment not being supplied by Medco International; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase were allocated
previously by Resolution No. 85-132 in the 1984-85 Operating
Budget; and
WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the
bid received from Massey Ferguson be accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The purchase awarded to Medco International
under Resolution No. 85-139 adopted February 14, 1985 for
furnishing six (6) Lo-Boy Tractors is hereby rescinded.
Section 2. That the bid of Massey Ferguson for
furnishing six (6) Lo-Boy Tractors for the Department of Building
and Vehicle Maintenance at a total proposed cost of $34,740.00 is
hereby accepted wish funds therefor previously allocated under
Resolution No. 85-132, adopted February 14, 1985 in the 1984-85
Operating Budget of the Department of Building and Vehicle
Maintenance.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Assistant Chief Procurement Officer to issue a
Purchase Order for this equipment.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21 day of March, 1985.

THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAIN-
TENANCE RECOMMENDS THE ADOPTION OF A RESO-
LUTION REJECTING THE BID AWARD TO MEDCO INTER-
NATIONAL FOR FURNISHING SIX TRACTORS AT A
TOTAL COST OF $31,890.00 AND AWARDING THE
BID OF MASSEY FERGUSON FOR FURNISHING SIX
TRACTORS AT A TOTAL COST OF $34,740.00.
The bid award to Medco International for furnishing six tractors
at a cost of $31,890.00 was made at the February 14, 1985
Commission Meeting. Medco International has gone out of busi-
ness and cannot supply the tractors as bid. The next lowest
bid received on Bid 84-85-15 was that of Massey Ferguson for
$34,740.00. This is an acceptable bid and recommended by the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance.
Funds for this purchase are available in the 1985 operating
budget of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance,
Machinery and Equipment replacement account.
