A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, SISTER CITIES FUND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF A CASH GRANT IN SUPPORT OF THE CITE► OF MIAMI SISTER CITIES/UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF MEDICINE'S MIAMI-NICE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM ENTITLED "ADVANCES IN INTERNAL MEDICINE"; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission to further the ideals and aims of the Sister City International Program as a positive force for peace, understanding, tolerance and respect between cities of the United States of America and other nations, thus projecting the image of the City of Miami as a socioeconomic and cultural bridge; and WHEREAS, the University of Miami School of Medicine has initiated an exchanged program with the University of Nice as a result of the participation of Dr. and Mrs. Bourgoignie in the delegation of the Miami -Nice Sister City Program in the Summer of 1983 whereby a group of approximately 100 Miami physicians will be attending a special symposium in Nice, France during the month of June, 19851, and a similar symposium will be orqanized by the University of Nice to bring French physicians to Miami for a one week course; and WHEREAS, the City Commission by motion No. 84-1217, passed on November 8, 1984, expressed its intent to allocate $5,000 in support of the University of Miami -Nice Exchange Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $5,000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Sister Ci CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF APR 11 1985 f- for the purpose of a cash grant in support of the City of Miami Sister Cities/University of Miami School of Medicine's Miami -Nice Postgraduate Program entitled "Advances in Internal Medicine`, Section 2. School of Medicine Postgraduate REFERENCES: Program ENCLOSURES: "It is recommended that an amount not to exceed $5,000 be allocated from Special Programs and Accounts/ Sister Cities Fund, for the purpose of a cash grant in support of the City of Miami Sister Cities/University of Miami School of Medicine's Miami -Nice Postgraduate Program entitled, "Advances in Internal Medicine," reaffirming motion M-84-1217, which expresses the City Commission's intent to support this program." The University of Miami School of Medicine has initiated an exchange program with the University of Nice, located in Nice, France, enti- tled, "Advances in Internal Medicine." This program is a direct result of the participation of Dr. & Mrs. Bourgoignie, who comprised the delegation that visited Nice in the summer of 1983, thus establishing a Miami -Nice Sister City relationship. In furtherance of the Sister City International Program which promotes peace, understanding, tolerance and respect between the United States and other nations, a group of approximately 100 Miami physicians will be attending a special symposium in Nice, France, during the month of June, and a similar symposium will be organized by the University of Nice to bring French physicians to Miami for a one -week course. In addition, the postgraduate program has been planned within the framework of a Sister Cities Program. On November 8, 1984, the City Commission, by Motion M-84-1217, expressed its intent to support this program up to an amount not to exceed $5,000. 85--386' w CITY OF MIAMI. This resolution formalizes Motion 84-1217, passed by the City Commission on November 8, 1984, expressing its intent to allocate $5,000 in support of this program. Under this program entitled "Advances in Internal Medicine", a group of approximately 100 physicians from Miami will attend a symposium in Nice, France during the month of June 1985,and a similar symposium will be organized by the University of Nice to bring French physicians to Miami.
