I J-85-220 2/27/85 rr/049/D-T RESOLUTION NO.s3 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER IN TERMINATING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S PARTICIPATION IN THE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES NOTIFICATION CENTER (UUNC) SINCE ITS MAJOR PARTICIPANT, SOUTHERN BELL, HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE UUNC. WHEREAS, the City Commission by Resolution No. 75-976 authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract for membership with this organization, and Resolution No. 75-1080 provided the necessary funding; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been a Charter Member of the Underground Utilities Notification Center (UUNC) since its inception in 1975 and the UUNC is a one number call bureau created to supply information as to the locations of participating members' underground facilities to anyone performing excavations in the public rights of way; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors is comprised of the following Charter Members: Southern Bell, American Telephone and Telegraph Company, Florida Gas, Peoples Gas, Metropolitan Dade County Public Works, and Traffic and Transportation and the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, Southern Bell, who provided 80% of the funding for UUNC, has served official notice to all Charter and Principal Members terminating its participation in UUNC as of March 31, 1985; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has reevaluated its activities in the UUNC and has found that past benefits from being a member of this organization has been minimal; and WHEREAS, the UUNC, as it presently exists, will no longer be a functioning organization; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF APR 11 1985 85'-381 014 No. __ Section 1. The action of the City Manager in terminating the City of Miami's participation in the Underground Utilities Notification Center (UUNC) is hereby approved and confirmed since the Center's major participant, Southern Bell, has withdrawn from the UUNC.
