RESOLUTION NO,
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND
SINCEREST CONDOLENCES OF THE CITY COMMISSION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AND ITS
CITIZENS TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF SAMUEL
FRIEDLAND UPON HIS DEATH.
WHEREAS, Samuel Friedland, who just passed away, was a
respected business leader and a founder of the Food Fair chain of
s
supermarkets, now known as Pantry Pride Supermarkets; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Friedland was the developer of the
Diplomat Resort and Country Clubs in Hollywood, the Shelborne
Hotel in Miami Beach and the Presidential Golf and Country Club
i
in North Miami, and was an early promoter of a plan to build a
theme park on Watson Island; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Friedland was a well known philanthropist
who donated more than One Million Dollars to the Mt. Siani
Medical Center in Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission, on behalf
of the City of Miami and its citizens to express its deepest
' sympathy to the family and friends of Samuel Friedland;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
r. OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. On behalf of the citizens of the City of
Miami, the City Commission hereby conveys to the family and
friends of Samuel Friedland its deepest sympathy and sincerest
condolences, upon his death.
Section 2. This Resolution is offered by the City
Commission as a token of its respect and esteem.
