Director of Finance ENCLOSURES:
It is recommended that the Miami City
Commission approve the attached emergency
ordinance appropriating an amount of
$55,000, from Capital Improvement inter-
est earnings to establish the Government
Center Parking Garage Access Improvement
Projects.
The City Commission on July 30, 1984, passed Motion No. 84-794
allocating $35,000 to improve the entrance/exit to the Government
Center Parking Garage pursuant to a request made by Roger Carlton
on behalf of the Off -Street Parking Authority. Due to an
oversight the estimated cost of the equipment needed to operate
the gate was not included in the original amount requested from
the City Commission. The $35,000 estimated covered only the
General contractors cost.
The lowest bid received by OSPA for the construction work was for
$39,510. In addition, peripheral equipment, such as ticket
spitter, gates, card reader, etc., at a cost of S15,160 is
required to make the new gate operational.
The attached emergency ordinance in the amount of SS5,000 will
enable the Off Street Parking Authority to open a new gate at the
Government Center Parking Garage which would facilitate access,
increase usage of the facility and reduce its operational_
deficit.
