A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS CONTINGENT FUND, TO THE FLORIDA HOUSING COOPERATIVE, INC., TO SUPPORT THE "FLORIDA COOPERATIVE HOUSING FORUM", TO BE HELD JULY 11-12, 1985, IN THE CITY OF MIAMI; SAID ALLOCATION BEING, CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM 1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984; SAID ALLOCATION FURTHER BEING CONDITIONED UPON SAID ORGANIZATION OBTAINING MATCHING FUNDS FROM METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY AND FIRM WRITTEN COMMITMENTS FROM NATIONALLY RENOWNED INDIVIDUALS IN THE COOPERATIVE HOUSING FIELD TO PARTICIPATE AS PANELISTS IN THIS TWO-DAY CONFERENCE. WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes the need for housing -affordable to low and moderate income families and individuals in the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the Florida Housing Cooperative, Inc. has made a Special Funding Request to the City of Miami, in support of the "Florida Cooperative Housing Forum", to be held July 11-12, 1985; and WHEREAS the City Commission passed Resolution No. 85-325 dated March 28, 1985 expressing its intent to allocate the amount requested; and WHEREAS, the City Commission conditioned said allocation on the organization obtaining matching funds from Metropolitan Dade County and firm written commitments from nationally renowned individuals in the cooperative housing field to participate panelists in the two-day conference; and WHEREAS, the event will familiarize the community of the potential for conversion of rental properties to cooperatives and the development of new cooperative housing units, and is expected to attract a total of 400-500 participants for the conference; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; -I- CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAY 9 1985 RESOLUliu,1 ivo. 85-513 ,REMARKS. _ Section 1. An amount not to exceed $15,000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to the Florida Housing Cooperative, Inc. to support the "Florida Cooperative Housing Forum", to be held July 11-12, 1984, in the City of Miami. Section 2. The herein allocation is conditioned upon the Florida Housing Cooperative, Inc. obtaining matching funds from Metropolitan Dade County and firm written commitments from nationally renowned individuals in the cooperative housing field to participant as panelists in this two-day conference. Section 3. The herein allocation is conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy No. APM-1-84, dated January 24, 1984. Said allocation being conditioned upon said organization obtaining matching funds from Metropolitan Dade County and firm written commitments from nationally renowned individuals in the field of cooperative housing as panelists, and being substantially in compliance with the City's Policy No. APM-1-84. . C On February 28, 1985, representatives of. the Florida Housing Cooperative, Inc. appeared before the City Commission to request funding assistance in the amount of $15,0001 in order to sponsor a national conference on cooperative housing in the City of Miami, which was previously planned for May 10-11, 1985. On March 28, 1985, the City Commission by Resolution No. 85-325 instructed the City Manager to identify a source of funding in which funding assistance could be provided for this event. Funding assistance for the two-day conference is available from the Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund. The Commission conditioned the allocation upon the following: 1) They obtain matching funds from Metropolitan Dade County. 2) They obtain written firm commitments from renowned individuals in the cooperative housing field to participate as panelists in this two-day conference.
