City Manager
Resolution Authorizing City
Manager to Advertise for Sale
and Sell Excess Fill Material
fR Donald W. Cather from Virginia Key

Resolution
The Public Works Department recommends the adoption
of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to '
advertise for sale and sell excess fill material from
Virginia Key to interested buyers, during the calendar
year of 1985, at the unit price of $1.84 per cubic
yard, loose measure.
Occasionally the City of Miami is requested by contractors and
interested buyers to sell a part of the surplus fill material stored
on Virginia Key.
At this time a Metropolitan Dade County Contractor widening the
Rickenbacker Causeway has offered to buy 40,000 cubic yards of this
material. In order to facilitate this sale for the causeway widen-
ing and expedite future sales of this nature, the proposed resolution
provides for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to
advertise for the sale of surplus fill material on Virginia Key and
further authorizes that during the 1985 calendar year the City
Manager may sell this material to interested buyers at $1.84 a cubic
yard, loose measure. This was the price at which material was sold
in 1984, and which is still fair and reasonable.
