HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0499J-85-452 lk RESOLUTION NO. 85- 49n A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 85- 272, ADOPTED MARCH 21, 1985► WHICH ALLOCATED AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, QUALITY OF LIFE FUND, FOR A FEE WAIVER FOR THE USE OF THE MIAMI CONVENTION CENTER ON MARCH 22 AND 23, 1985, IN SUPPORT OF THE FIRST ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS CHARITY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COM- PLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984; AND FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON EVENT -GENERATED PROCEEDS BEING CONTRI- BUTED TO THE ETHIOPIAN HUNGER DRIVE, BY AMENDING THE FIRST WHEREAS CLAUSE AND SECTION 1 OF SAID RESOLUTION NO. 85-272, THERBY CHANGING THE DATE OF THE EVENT FROM MARCH 22 AND 23, 1985, TO APRIL 13, 1985, AND CHANGING THE USE OF THE ALLOCATION FROM A FEE WAIVER TO COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE MIAMI CONVENTION CENTER. WHEREAS, the First Annual Professional Football Players Charity Basketball Tournament was planned for March 22 and 23, 1985; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission adopted Resolution No. 85-272, allocating an amount not to exceed $10,000 as a fee waiver for the use of the Miami Convention Center in support of the event; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the allocation was to cover the costs associated with the use of the Miami Convention Center, including a fee waiver and labor; and WHEREAS, the date of said event has been changed to April 13, 1985; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Resolution No. 85-272, adopted March 21, 1985, is hereby amended by amending the first WHEREAS clause and CITY COMMISSION MEETII; G OF MAY 9 IN5 ON iqu. 85-4 REMARKS. s Section 1 thereof in the following particularsl: "WHEREAS, the First Annual Professional Football Players Charity Basketball Tournament has been planned for 23, 1965r April 13, 1985, in the Miami Convention Center, and Section 1. Carl Kern, Director Department of Parks and Recreation DATE: April ill 1985 V„t: SUBJECT: Resolution Amending Resolution No. 85-272 REFERENCE!: May 9, 1985, City Commission Meeting ENCLOSURES: "It is recommended that Resolution No. 85-272, alloca- ting $10,000 as a fee waiver for the use of the Miami Convention Center on March 22 and 23, 1985, in support of the -First Annual Professional Football Players Charity Bas- ketball Tournament, be amended to change the date of the event to April 13, 1985, and to change the purpose of the allocation from a fee waiver to costs associated with the use of the Miami Convention Center, per the attached resolution." The City Commission adopted Resolution No. 85-272 on March 21, 1985, allocating $10,000 as a fee waiver for the use of the Miami Convention. Center on March 22 and 23, 1985, in support of the First Annual Professional Football Players Charity Basketball Tournament. The date of this event was subsequently changed to April 13, 1985. The attached resolution amends Resolution No. 85-272 to reflect the new date of the event. It also amends the previous Resolution to change the purpose of the funds from a fee waiver to costs associated with the use of the Convention Center, including both a fee waiver and labor provided by the Center.
