During 1983 the City Manager and the Commission j approved the acquisition of the B-20 series computers to be used as part of the office automation efforts. KrY To date the City has already installed over one hundred of these units in all departments and these machines are used for a number of differen applications which include: - word Processing - Spreadsheet Applications - Message Log - Event Scheduling - Buyer Logging - Office Supplies Inventory The next step in our Office Automation effort is the installation of Office Management System (OMS II) which will enable the implementation of communication links between the host B-7900 computer and the individual B-20 micro computers. This link will enable the implementation of Electronic Mail and the ability of user departments to download mainframe files for management reporting. A66 85-496 AI xy Sergio Pereira Page 2 April 30, 1985 h Several departments have requested acquisition of additional a..20 micro computers to be paid from their respective departmental -' budgets. The current contract between the City of Miami and the Burroughs Corporation has an established price for the B-20's. However, a recently executed contract between the State of Florida and Burroughs Corporation would enable the City to obtain the equipment at a bigger discount. This resolution is to request the City Commission's approval to acquire fifty (50) B-20 micro computers, fifty (50) printers, and other associated peripheral equipment from the Burroughs Corporation under the currently effective State of Florida Contract at a total purchase price not to exceed $280,000 and an annual lease cost of $66,000 to be paid from the various departmental budgets.
