A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,000 FROM THE SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND IN SUPPORT OF THE WEEKEND CONFERENCE ON CARICOM TO BE SPONSORED BY THE SOUTH FLORIDA BUSINESS LEAGUE AND HELD ON MAY 24 AND 25, 1985; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDI- TIONED UPON METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY AND THE PRIVATE SECTOR EACH CONTRIBUTING SPECIFIED AMOUNTS TOWARD THIS EVENT AND UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM 1- 84, DATED JANUARY 249 1984. WHEREAS, the South Florida Business League, comprised of a group of Miami businesspersons is sponsoring a Weekend Conference on CARICOM which is scheduled to take place on May 24 and 25, 1985; and WHEREAS, this two day program has the primary objective of providing comprehensive information on political, economic and social information on CARICOM, a well -established Caribbean network with trading opportunities; and WHEREAS, this event is important to Miami because it will provide information that should enhance decision -making and directly benefit U.S. business and commercial interests in the Caribbean -- regions that are most important to Florida; and WHEREAS, it will also provide interaction among Miami's leading businesspersons as well as national, local and foreign experts on the Caribbean that will attend; and WHEREAS, it will further expose and identify Miami as a major center of international activity; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that Metropolitan Dade County and the private sector will each contribute a matching amount not to exceed $12,000 and $15,000, respectively, of the estimated budget of $39,000; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING CF MAY 1) ;rah: F Section 1. An amount not to exceed $12,000 is hereby allocated from the Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund in support of a Weekend Conference on CARICOM to be held on May 24 and 25, 1985. Section 2. The aforesaid allocation is subject to Metropolitan Dade County and the private sector each contributing amounts not to exceed $12,000 and $15,000, respectively, toward this event with the condition that the herein allocation shall be proportionately reduced if these contributions toward the event exceeds $27,000. Section 3. The herein allocation is also conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy No. APM-1-84, dated January 24, 1984.
