J-ts- 71 mot s odys - 97 RualoLuMitO RO. s A RESOWTiON ALLOCATING Ali AMOUNT NOT To EXCEED $3033 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, QUALITY OF LIFE FUND, TO REIMBURSE THE OPP-STREET PARKING SYSTEMS FOR THE PURCHASE OF' TICKETS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS TO ENABLE THEM TO ATTEND A FILM SERIES ENTITLED "LOWENBRAU LEGENDS OF BLACK CINEMA" FEATURING A COLLECTION OF MOVIES ON THE EVOLUTION OF BLACK ARTISTS; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY AND THE SCHOOL BOARD EQUALLY MATCHING THE CITY CONTRIBUTION; SAID ALLOCATION BEING FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984. WHEREAS# the City Commission by Motion 85-467, on May 9, 1985, expressed its intent to allocate $3,333 to the Off -Street Parking Systems in connection with a program sponsored by the Lowenbrau Company which will bring a series of movies featuring the evolution of black artists to be presented at Gusman Cultural Center June 6-9, 1985; and WHEREAS, the allocation is to be conditioned upon equal amounts being contributed by Metropolitan Dade County and the School Board; and WHEREAS, the City Commission by Motion 85-468 recommended that the promoters of the film series grant a portion of the proceeds from this event to the UpGrove Theatre Company ; NOW, THLREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $3,333 from Special Programs and Accounts, Quality of Life Fund, is hereby allocated to reimburse the Off -Street Parking Systems for the purchase of tickets to be distributed to students to enable them to attend a film series entitled "Lowenbrau Legends of Black Cinema" featuring a collection of movies on the evolution of black artists. Section 2. The herein allocation is hereby conditioned upon an equal match by Metropolitan Dade County and the School. Board. This allocation is — conditioned on Metropolitan Dade County and the School Board providing an equal match. The attached resolution a formalizes Motion 85-467 passed by the z City Commission May 9, 1985. The Department of Off -Street Parking has requested that the City of ;g Miami provide $3,333 to purchase tickets for students to attend the Lowenbrau film series, which features movies on the evolution of black artists. The total cost of underwriting this project is $10,000. `A. ' Support is also being requested from Metropolitan Dade County and the School Board. The City Commission, by Motion 85-467, on May 9, 1985, expressed its intent to allocate $3,333 (one third of the total allocation of $10,00(0) in support of the film series subject to Metropolitan Dade ...a. County and the School Board equally matching the City's contribution. The promoters of the series have indicated their intention to grant a portion of the proceeds to a charitable organization in the black 7 community. The City Commission, by Motion 85-468 of May 9, 1985, recommended that this donation be made to the UpGrove Theater Company. We have requested that Off -Street Parking advise us of the sponsors' intentions with regards to this request. 85-598 Monies for this allocation are available from Special Programs and Accounts, QualitY of Life Puad. / jmb c
