HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0686A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,000 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, IN SUPPORT OF THE HAITIAN AMERICAN 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION, FURTHER ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $140 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, QUALITY OF LIFE FUND, FOR A FEE WAIVER IN CONNECTION WITH THE EVENT, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION OF IN -KIND SERVICES FOR THE EVENT FOR A TOTAL OF $3207 FROM THE OPERATING BUDGETS OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE SOLID WASTE, FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES, AND PARKS A14D RECREATION; SAID ALLOCATIONS BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984; CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL DURING SPECIFIED HOURS t FOR THE EVENT; SAID STREET CLOSING SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, h; RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; ESTABLISHING THE AREA PROHIBITED TO RETAIL PEDDLERS DURING THE PERIOD OF THE 4 EVENT. a Y WHEREAS, the Haitian American 4th of July Celebration has been planned FOR JULY 4, 1985, On NE 2nd Avenue from NE 50th �= Street to NE 53rd Street; and WHEREAS, the organizers of the event have requested funding in the amount of $2,000 plus in -kind services and a fee waiver for the use of the showmobi le; and WHEREAS, the organizers have further requested a street �^ closing in connection with the event; r . L NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY r. OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $2000 is hereby allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, in vt n support of the Haitian American 4th of July Celebration to be held on July 4, 1985. Section 2. An amount not to exceed $140 is hereby further allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Quality,-gf - Life Fund, in support of the event. CITY GThliUSSIION JUN 24 1985 Section 3• The provision of in -kind services is hereby authorized from the following Departments: Police $1772 Solid Waste 600 Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services 520 Parks and Recreation 315 Total $3207 Section 4. The herein allocation is conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy No. APM-1-849 dated January 24, 1984. Section 5. In order to provide safe passage and a temporary pedestrian mall during the event, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic on July 4, 1985 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.: a) NE 2nd Avenue from NE 50th Street to E 53rd 97treet. b) All streets and avenues intersecting the area listed above. Section 6. Such closing of streets is subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of yf. .. ..f. Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and ...'. traffic needs of residents, businesses and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgment .,: predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 7. Pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 8851, F .,..� enacted September 28, 1978, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City b Code, as amended, will not be valid on July 4, 1985, during the hours of 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. on NE 2nd Avenue from NE 50th !s • _', Street to NE 53rd Street, and on all intersecting streets for two F blocks in all directions. For that great event, I would like to request S2,000.00 from the City of Miami. This money will be spent as follows: BANDS......... S1,000.00 := CULTURAL DANCE GROUP......... S 500.00 REFRESHMENTS, FOOD........ S 500.00 TOTAL: ....... 2,000.00 This event will take place from 50th Street to 54th Street, North- east 2 Avenue, at 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. t Thank you for your consideration.
