HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-85-0668J-85-639 f"%� RESOLUTION NO. 85--66- A RESOLUTION RELAXING THE LIMITATIONS ON THE DISPLAY OF FIREWORKS TO ALLOW THE STAGING OF PYROTECHNIC DISPLAYS IN PEACOCK PARK UNTIL 10:30 PM ON JULY 14, 1985, SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF A PERMIT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES. WHEREAS, the Alliance Francaise de Miami and the French Consulate General have requested that the fireworks deadline be extended until 10:30 PM on July 14, 1985, in Peacock Park, in connection with the celebration of "Bastille Day"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The time limitations on the display of fireworks is hereby relaxed to allow the staging of pyrotechnic displays in Peacock Park on July 14, 1985, until 10:30 PM, subject to the issuance of appropriate permits from the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. We expect to have about 2,500 guests attend our outdoor "Bal Musette". We are writing this letter to obtain your authorization for the Bastille Day Cele- bration to be held in Peacock Park in Coconut Grove. We understand from the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce that no otber event is scheduled that day in Peacock Park. The Coconut Grove Chamber has given us its full support for this event. The Bastille Day Celebration is a very well organized event and we have secured the services of ten City of Miami Policemen. We have, as in the past, scheduled a fireworks display for our Bastille Day Cele- bration. A pezmit has been applied for with the City of Miami Fire Marshall by Mr. Ted Walker, Pyrotechnician of A.D. Fire, Inc. It is our understanding that your authorization must also be obtained to allow us to have this fireworks display take place after 9:00 p.m. We expect the display to begin at 10:00 p.m. Again, your authorization for the use of Peacock Park on Sunday, July 14, 1985 and for the display of fireworks would be very much appreciated.
