A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
1,500 ADMISSIONS TO CASTLE PARK AT A
COST OF $61750 AND 1,050 ADMISSIONS TO
SIX FLAGS ATLANTIS AT A COST OF
$5,197.50, AS A PART OF THE 1985 MIAMI'S
FOR RECREATION PROGRAM FROM FUNDS
ALLOCATED IN THE 1984-1985 RECREATION
SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET, AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT
CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A
PURCHASE ORDER FOR SAID ATTRACTIONS.
WHEREAS, the 'Miami's for Recreation' Program is a series of
special activities geared to the entire family unit, which
complements the City's regular summer program; and
WHEREAS, as a part of this program, field trips to Castle
Park and Six Flags Atlantis are planned for over 2,500 children;
and
WHEREAS, the cost of admissions for these attractions has
been obtained at a special reduced price of $4.50 each at Castle
Park and $4.95 each at Six Flags Atlantis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Authorization is hereby granted for the purchase
of 1,500 admissions to Castle Park at a cost of $6,750 and 1,050
admissions to Six Flags Atlantis at a Cost of $5,197.50, as a
part of the 11985 Miami for Recreation' Program with funds
therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Park and
Recreation - Supplemental Recreation Budget.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct
the Assistant Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order
for these attractions.

Background:
The Department of Parks and Recreation has planned the 1985 Miami's
for Recreation Program. This 3rd annual program is a series of

special activities, geared to the entire family unit, which
complements the City's regular summer program.

Included as a part of this program are trips for over 2500 children
to Castle Park and Six Flags Atlantis. Castle Park is an amusement
center which will include for each child rand g Prix race cars,
miniature golf, game tokens for video games, pizza, popcorn and soft

drinks. Six Flags Atlantis is a water theme park with pools, water

slides and other water -oriented activities.

Transportation will be provided by the Parks and Recreation
Department utilizing 2 Buses and 2 Vans presently in service and the

leasing of 6 additional Vans through the Miami's For Recreation

Program. As with other City -sponsored events, these activities will
be covered under the City insurance program with additional on site

insurance covers a rovided by the vendors. Children who attend the

trips must be enrolled in the Summer Program and will be supervised

by Recreation Personnel on a 1:10 ratio.
