A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $26,450 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, TO METRO-MIAMI ACTION PLAN IN SUPPORT OF ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 6 AND 7, 1985 AT THE MIAMI CONVENTION CENTER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $26,450 is hereby allocated from Special Proqrams and Accounts, Continqent Fund, to Metro -Miami Action Plan in support of its annual conference to be held September 6 and 7, 1985 at the Miami Convention Center. SUMPTER July 11, 1985 The Honorable Maurice Ferre Mayor City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Fla. 33133 Dear Mayor Ferre: The Metro -Miami Action Plan (MMAP) is a process which encourages the input and involvement of the entire Dade County as we attempt to determine the causes of disparity between Blacks and other minorities and the general community. The chief areas of our concern at present are Economic Development, Housing, the Criminal Justice System, Education, the Legislative Process and in the area of Employment, and it is through these areas that we attempt to develop plans and mobilize the resources necessary to effectively reduce or eliminate the disparity. In effect, the MMAP goal is to be the moral conscience of the community with respect to unmet needs of minorities and to serve as a catalyst for the implementation of change by responsible agents in both the public and private sectors. In an effort to make sure apprised of that which has year, MMAP hosts an annual approximately 1200 people. that the community is continously been accomplished during the past conference which brings together MMAP's Third Annual Conference, which will take place on September 6 and 7, 1985, at the Downtown Hyatt Regency in Miami, is expected to attract at least as many individuals as it has in the past. As a part of telling the MMAP story we intend to honor entities in this community that have performed mightily in the pursuit of MMAP goals. To do this, we need your help. Although conf ence costs are projected at $�O00, we are respectfully requesting that e i 1aQ00-D these costs and waive the costs associate with use of the five (5) City of Miami Meeting Rooms (Poinciana, Hibiscus, Jasmine, Gardenia, Bougainvillea Rooms) at the Hyatt Regency, for a_,,�al value of 5 h The remaining $$43,550 is being requested o e ounty, tThe of Miami and private corporations. 85-855 Honorable Maurice Ferre July 11, 1985 Page 2 The $25,000 requested of the City will help to defray costs of parking, an awards luncheon, coffee and danish for coffee breaks, necessary room furnishings and other related expenses attributable to the cost of using the Hyatt Regency.
