MEFERENCES
=NCLOSURES ( 1) Resolution
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the
attached Resolution authorizing the Miami Sports E Ex-
hibition Authority to Solicit Sponsorships and Promotional
Licenses on behalf of the City of Miami and for the City
Manager & City Attorney to approve the agreements prior
to execution.
The City Code requires the Authority to promote sports, conventions and
exhibitions to the greatest extent feasible. The Authority is also required
to implement the exercise of its powers in a manner which utilizes and en-
courages the fullest and most active participation and cooperation of private
enterprise by actively soliciting contributions and financial support from
private business interest in the City.
In furtherance of these objectives, on September 30, 1985, after competitive
negotiations, the Authority entered into an agreement with Del Wilber E
Associates, an Informational Services Consultant. They were engaged to
provide promotional and marketing services including the initiation of spon-
sorship and promotional licensing development plans which will serve to
provide extensive exposure and financial gain to the Authority and the City
at large.
The Authority has created the structure to implement the sponsorship and
promotional licensing development plans. It is therefore recommended that
the City Commission approve the attached Resolution authorizing the Miami
Sports S Exhibition Authority to solicit sponsorships and promotional licenses
on behalf of the City of Miami and for the City Manager and City Attorney
to approve the sponsorship agreements prior to execution.
