RE: REQUEST FOR DONATED USAGE OF THE MIAMI BASEBALL STADIUM
(ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUIRED)
Dear Commissioner Dawkins:
This letter is a follow-up to our meeting on August 9th re-
garding our request for donated usage of the Miami Baseball
Stadium on December 7, 1985.
The additional information you requested is as follows: Esti-
mated net profits derived from the RICK JAMES CONCERT is
$160,000 (including facility expense) and $213,000 (excluding
facility expense). Entertainment Galore, Inc. (EGI) intends
to use this income to 1) expand its company operations. We
will now have a budget to hire professional staff who will be
utilized in the areas of concert promotions/management, talent
booking, record production, and music publishing.
2) enhance the City of Miami Summer
Youth Program by continuing plans to promote and produce free
outdoor concerts at various city parks. EGI was awarded four
contracts through the City's Parks & Recreation Department to
implement this project from June, 1982 through August, 1985.
3) provide a donation to the Sunstreet
Festival Committee, Inc. so that they can continue efforts to
promote historical, cultural, educational, sporting, economic
development, and various quality entertainment activities on
an annual basis. Implementation of these activities are re-
quisites for increasing community awareness through cultural
enrichment, building a stable economic base for business de-
velopment, and restoring a positive image for the Liberty City
Community. This community needs its facelift simultaneously
with other areas throughout the City of Miami.
