Dawkins Commissioner, City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 RE: REQUEST FOR DONATED USAGE OF THE MIAMI BASEBALL STADIUM (ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUIRED) Dear Commissioner Dawkins: This letter is a follow-up to our meeting on August 9th re- garding our request for donated usage of the Miami Baseball Stadium on December 7, 1985. The additional information you requested is as follows: Esti- mated net profits derived from the RICK JAMES CONCERT is $160,000 (including facility expense) and $213,000 (excluding facility expense). Entertainment Galore, Inc. (EGI) intends to use this income to 1) expand its company operations. We will now have a budget to hire professional staff who will be utilized in the areas of concert promotions/management, talent booking, record production, and music publishing. 2) enhance the City of Miami Summer Youth Program by continuing plans to promote and produce free outdoor concerts at various city parks. EGI was awarded four contracts through the City's Parks & Recreation Department to implement this project from June, 1982 through August, 1985. 3) provide a donation to the Sunstreet Festival Committee, Inc. so that they can continue efforts to promote historical, cultural, educational, sporting, economic development, and various quality entertainment activities on an annual basis. Implementation of these activities are re- quisites for increasing community awareness through cultural enrichment, building a stable economic base for business de- velopment, and restoring a positive image for the Liberty City Community. This community needs its facelift simultaneously with other areas throughout the City of Miami.
