Dear Ms. Leff:
Thomas Mitchell, Sr., Director of the Florida Agricultural
0 and Mechanical University National Alumni Association has asked
that we send you the enclosed copy of the determination letter
issued by the Internal Revenue Service indicating that the
Association is exempt from Federal Income Tax under Internal
Revenue Code Section 501(c)(7). Also he has asked that we
comment as to the accounting and financial controls employed by
the Association.
A$ we understand the present system, all receipts and
disbursements related to the National Alumni Association are
processed through the office of the Florida Agricultural and
Mechanical University Foundation, Inc. We perform an annual
audit of the FAMU Foundation, Inc. and our audit for the year
ended December 31, 1984 revealed no significant weaknesses in
internal control as such accounting and financial controls relate
to the National Alumni Association.
Please let me know if you need any further information or
have any questions.
