Authorization to
Purchase Riding Mowers
REFERENCES from State Contract
ENCLOSURES
"It is requested that a resolution
be passed authorizing the purchase
of eight (8) Riding Mowers at a
cost of $4,175.00 each from DeBra
Turf and Industrial, Inc. under a
currently effective State of
Florida contract at a total cost of
$33, 400.00.t1
The Department of Parks and Recreation has urgent need of lawn
mowing equipment used in the maintenance of 110 City parks and
other properties. Existing Riding Mowers are 8 years old on an
average, and can no longer be repaired or rebuilt. The present
condition of the parks mandates expeditious procurement to obtain
proper equipment.
The currently effective State of Florida contract, No. 515-63-85-
1, was competitively bid earlier this year by suppliers all
across the state. Awards were made to the lowest bidder for each
equipment type. The particular model selected for purchase, a
heavy-duty 36t1 Riding Mower with a 10 hp engine, was awarded to a
local supplier, Debra Turf and Industrial, Inc. This product
meets all specifications for use in the Parks Operations
Division.
It is requested that authorization be given to purchase from the
State contract, thereby decreasing delivery time and eliminating
the duplicity of City formal bids. This equipment will enable
maintenance crews to perform more quickly and efficiently and
reduce down -time for repairs.
Funds for this purchase are available in the 1985 Special
Programs and Accounts, Parks Improvements Fund.
