A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE IMMEDIATE
PURCHASE OF APPROXIMATELY 95 PIECES OF
LAWN MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT FROM FIVE (5)
SUPPLIERS UNDER A CURRENTLY EFFECTIVE
STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT AS HEREIN
LISTED FOR 'THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS
AND RECREATION AT A TOTAL COST OF
$97,840.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR
FROM THE 1985-85 SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND
ACCOU14TS - PARKS IMPROVEMENT FUND;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT
THE ASSISTANT CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER
TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is
responsible for grounds maintenance at City parks and facilities;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission and the City Marager have
mandated that significant improvements to City parks be
accomplished within, ninety (90) days; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet this directive, it is necessary to
station maintenance personnel at 26 major -use parks, to re -assign
roving maintenance crews, and to immediately provide each crew
with suitable equipment; and
WHEREAS, there is a currently effective State of Florida
contract, No. 515-63-85-1, for the supply of various items of
mowing and ground maintenance equipment to governmental agencies
and entities state-wide; and
WHEREAS, said contract was competitively bid and awarded to
the lowest responsive and responsible bidders for each item; and

WHEREAS, said items listed herein below meet the City's
requirements and specifications for this herein equipment; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of
Parks and Recreation to perform grounds maintenance at 26 newly
staffed, major -use parks and facilities; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1985-
86 Special Programs and Accounts - Parks Improvement Fund; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Parks and Recreation recommend that the immed-iate purchase of

equipment under the State of Florida contract from De Bra Turf and
Industrial Equipment Co., Kut Kwick Corp., Sarlo Power Mowers,
Inc., Florida Outdoor- Equipmert Corp., and Zaur. Equipmert, Inc.,
be authorized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The immediate purchase of approximately 95
pieces of Lawn Maintenance Equipment from five (5) suppliers
under the currently effective State of Florida cortract for the
Department of Parks and Recreation, at a total cost of $97,840. is
hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the
1985-86 Special Programs and Accounts - Parks Improvement Fund,
as follows:

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Assistant Chief Procurement Officer to issue
purchase orders for this equipment.

The Parks and Recreation Department has beer directed to
accomplish sigr,ificar.t improvements in City Parks within. r.ir.ety
(90) days. The Mar.agemer.t Initiative Task Force has recommended
that 26 major use parks be staffed with mair.ter.ar.ce persor.r.el and
that roving crews be reassigned. This necessitates the immediate
procurement of maintenance equipment to be used by these new
crews.
A total of 95 items of motorized equipment, including riding
mowers, push mowers, weedeaters and edgers, are required for
immediate staff reeds. These items were selected from the
currently effective State of Florida contract, No. 515-63-85-1,
which was competitively bid and awarded to the low bidders for
each item. The contract contains a comprehensive array of
equipment and the recommended items meet the City's specifications
and operational requirements. Pricing is on-line or below that
which has beer previously bid by the City. Use of the State
contract will significantly reduce procurement processing and
delivery time for this vital equipment.
