Honorable Mayor and Members DATE 0CT 16 1965 FILE H-3209 of the City Commission FROM Sergio Pereira Cit Mana er SUBJECT CURTIS PARK ELDERLY MEALS FACILITY - Resolution for Reduction of Retainage REFERENCES: y g ENCLOSURES: (For Commission Meeting of October 24, 1985) The Department of Public Works recommends adoption of the attached resolution reducing the 10% retainage on the Curtis Park Elderly Meals Facility project to 2.5%. There exists a contract dated March 15, 1985 between the City of Miami and F and L Construction Company, Inc., in the amount of $466,325.00 for the construction of Curtis Park Elderly Meals Facility. The contractor has substantially completed all of the work shown on the plans and specifications, and is currently per- forming extra work ordered after the final inspection, held on September 18, 1985. We delayed ordering the extra work until we could determine that funds to pay '.or it would be available from the money allocated for the project. The contractor will not be able to complete the extra work for three to four weeks, and the Public Works Department believes it would be imposing an unjustified and unnecessary hardship upon him to withhold the full 10% retainage until we are ready to make final payment, and the Director of Public Works recommends that the retainage be reduced to 2.5%. It should be noted that the performance of the extra work will not hinder the use of the completed building, which is now in full use. DWC:LEL:vh Resolution Attached i : 1090
