RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION GRANTING, UPON THE
ISSUANCE OF A TEMPORARY PERMIT BY
THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS
REGULATION, DIVISION OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO, THE REQUEST
OF THE FRIENDS OF THE JAPANESE
GARDEN TO SELL BEER AND WINE FOR A
ONE DAY PERIOD IN CONNECTION WITH
THE JAPANESE FALL FESTIVAL TO BE
HELD 14OVEIIBER 24, 1985, ON WATSON
ISLAND ADJACENT TO THE JAPANESE
GARDEN; SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF
ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY LAW;
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A ONE -DAY
NONEXCLUSIVE CONCESSION AGREEMENT
WITH THE ORGANIZATION IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Japarese Garden, and the Japan -
America Society have planned the Japanese Fall Festival or.
November 24, 1985; and
WHEREAS, the evert will take place or. Watsor. Island adjacent
to the Japanese Garden and will include the sale of oriental arts
and crafts, food and beverages; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Japanese Garden has requested

permission, to sell beer and wire for a one -day period or. November
247 1985, in connection with the event; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9818 of April 5, 1984, authorized the
City Commission, to permit the dispersing of beer or wine in soft
containers in any City park upon, such conditions and limitations
as the City Commission shall prescribe;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section. 1. Upor, the issuance of a temporary permit by the
Florida State Department of Business Regulation, Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, to sell beer and wine, and
pursuant to the City Code , the request of the Friends of the
Japanese Garden to sell beer and wine for a one -day period in
connection with the Japanese Fall Festival to be held on Watson
Island adjacent to the Japanese Garden or. November 24, 1985, is

subject to the issuance of all permits required by law.
Section. 2. The City Marager is hereby authorized try execute
a ore -day rorexclusive enrcessior agreement with the Friends of
the Japarese Oarder, Irc. it a firm acceptable to the City
Attorney in connection with the evert.

concession rights agreement
be authorized with the or-
ganization for the evert, per
the attached resolution,."
The Friends of the Japanese Garden and the Japan. -America Society have
planned the Japanese Fall Festival for November 24, 1985, on Watson.
Island adjacent to the Japanese Garden. The evert will include the
display and sale of oriental art and crafts, food and beverages. All
proceeds will go to support the efforts of these orgar.izatior.s to
restore the Japanese Gardens.
The Parks and Recreatior Department has recommended that the Friends
of the Japanese Gardens be granted permission to sell beer and wire
during the event, subject to the issuance of all necessary permits by
the Florida Department of Business Regulation, Division opf Alcoholic
Beverages and Tobacco. It has also recommended that a one -day
nonexclusive concession agreement be authorized with the organizatior
for the event.
