SUBJECT: MUNICIPAL LOT NO. 40
ALLAPATTAH
N.W. 35TH STREET/18TH AVENUE
During the 1960's and early 1970's the Department of Off -Street Parking
operated a 110 space municipal lot in the Allapattah area. Due to declining
demand and business conditions the lot was closed in the late 1970's.
Recently economic conditions have improved in the neighborhood and the
Department was requested to restore the facility by the Allapattah Merchants
Association.
This request was reviewed by the Off -Street Parking Board which determined to
renovate the lot at a cost of $25,000 including drainage improvements,
asphalt sealing and new landscaping. The project will be completed in late
October and numerous requests have already been received for long term
leasing of spaces from businesses which are in the process of expansion or
renovation.
It is requested that the scheduling of a dedication, possibly during the
lunch break of the December 12, 1985 City Commission meeting, be scheduled
for discussion during theNovenber 26, 1985 City Commission 1&eti.ng.
We are pleased to be involved in this project which is reflective of the Off -
Street Parking Board's commitment to the community development process.
