A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A ONE -DAY
PERMIT TO SELL BEER AND WINE FOR
THE SUNSTREET FESTIVAL AND PARADE _
TO BE HELD DECEMBER 7, 1985 SUBJECT
TO THE ISSUANCE OF ALL PERMITS
REQUIRED BY LAW; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF CERTAIN
STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR
TRAFFIC DURING SAID EVENT; SAID
STREET CLOSING SUBJECT TO STATE
APPROVAL AND THE ISSUANCE OF
PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND
INSPECTION SERVICES, AND ASSURANCES
THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED
AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY;
SAID AUTHORIZATION SUBJECT TO THE
ORGANIZERS DEMONSTRATING THEIR
ABILITY TO COVER THE COST OF CITY
SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the Sunstreet Festival Committee, Inc. has
requested authorization to sell beer and wine and the closure of
certain streets in connection with the 1985 Sunstreet Festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Upon the issuance of a temporary permit by
the Florida Department of Business Regulation, Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, to sell beer and wine pursuant
to the City Code, the request of the Sunstreet Festival
Committee, Inc. to sell beer and wine for a one -day period in
connection with the 1985 Sunstreet Festival to be held on
December 7, 1985, is hereby granted subject to the issuance of
all permits required by law.
Section 2. In order to effectuate safe passage during
the 1985 Sunstreet Festival, the following streets are hereby
closed to through vehicular traffic during the date and hours
specified below:
Saturday, December 7, 1985 - 7:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m.
N.W. 7th Avenue from 46th Street to 71st Street
N.W. 71st Street from 7th Avenue to 12th Avenue
Saturday, December 7, 1985 - 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
N.W. 7th Avenue from 54th Street to 62nd Street

Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police after giving all due consideration to the
safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 4. Such authorizations are hereby subject to the
organizers of the 1985 Sunstreet Festival obtaining insurance
requirements as mandated by the City of Miami, Department of
Finance, Risk Management Division.
Section 5. The herein authorizations are hereby
conditioned upon the organizers demonstrating their ability to
cover the cost of City services.

1985.

Dear Mr. Pereira:
The Sunstreet Festival Committee, Inc. respectfully requests that our name be
added to the Tuesday, November 26, 1985 City of Miami Commission agenda. We
would like to appear before the Commission to make a request for funding of the
1985 Sunstreet Festival. Specifically, we are requesting financial support in the
amount of $45,000.03. We have been in contact with commission members, and made
them aware of our request.
Additionally, we are requesting approval for a 1 day beer and wine permit to be
utilized during the Parade and Street Festival to be held on December 1, 1985.
The Sunstreet Festival will be held in the Miami -Liberty City area on November 21,
through December 8, 1985. The festival will consist of a variety of cultural,
sporting, educational, and entertainment events at locations throughout the city.
