FOR FURNISHING CARPETING AND RELATED MATERIALS CITY-WIDE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1 ) YEAR RENEWABLE ANNUALLY AT A TOTAL PROPOSED FIRST YEAR COST OF $45,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1985-86 OPERATING BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received June 24, 1985 for the furnishing of Carpeting and related materials on a contract basis to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 30 potential suppliers and 8 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1985-86 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance for the purpose of providing i carpeting and related materials to i all City offices on as needed basis; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance recommend that the { 7 bid received from Carpet Collection, Inc. be accepted as the 3 lowest responsible and responsive bid; 9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE 1 { CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The June 24, 1985 hid of Carpet Collection, 3 Inc. for furnishing Carpeting and related materials City Wide to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually at a total proposed first year cost of $45,000.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1985-86 Operating Budget. IN RESPONSE TO THIS BID, A TOTAL OF FIVE (5) BIDS WERE RECEIVED FROM MINORITY FIRMS AND THREE (3) FROM NON -MINORITY FIRMS. THE RECOMMENDED BIDDER IS A MINORITY OWNED COMPANY AND HAS SUBMITTED THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BID. In coordination with the Purchasing Division, bids were solicited for carpeting, cushioning, and related materials to be provided to all City offices on an as needed basis for one year. This re- quest for bids was responded to by a total of eight (8) companies. The lowest bid received was from Carpet Collection, Inc., a minor- i ity company, at a cost of $45,000. This bid meets all of the requirements of the specifications and is therefore recommended for award. This vendor will be responsible for providing carpeting as required at the prices as stated in his submitted bid documents. The vendor should have available ample amounts of carpeting in stock in order to avoid delays in recar- 1 peting needed areas.
