ENCLOSURES: Two
It is recommended that the City Commission
select one name from the attached list
submitted by the Sanitation Employees
Association to be appointed as a member of
the City of Miami General Employees' and
Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board
of Trustees per the attached Resolution in
accordance with Ordinance No. 1002 and Motion
No. M-85-1066.
All of the City labor unions were required to submit names to the
City Commission for selection as appointees to the Pension
Boards. The Sanitation Employees Association submitted the name
of Senator Carrie Meeks who was ineligible to be.appointed to the
Board consistent with the settlement of the Gates lawsuit. On
October 10, 1985, the City Commission passed Motion No. M-85-1066
directing the Sanitation Employees Association to resubmit a list
of names for selection of the final Pension Board member.
Mr. William Smith, Executive Director of the Sanitation Employees
Association, refiled a fist of six names (see copy attached) with
the Office of Labor Relations on November 18, 1985.
Unfortunately, that was too late to make the agenda for the
Commission Meeting of November 26, 1985. An appointment of one
name from this list should be made to complete the Pension Board
reorganization. The names are as follows:
1) T. Willard Fair, President and Chief
Executive Officer, Urban League of Greater Miami
2) Gail Williams, Neighborhood Health Services
3) Peter Rouhlac, Jobs for Miami
4) Lynette Williams, Housing Specialist
5) Burt Shepard, Banker
6) Ron Tonkins, Certified Public Accountant
Upon the selection of one of the six names herein, the Pension
Board for the General Employees'/Sanitation Employees' will be
completely restructured as required under the Gates settlement.
