A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MOTOROLA
COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONICS, INC. FOR
FURNISHING ONE (1) COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
ANALYZER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING A14D
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE, COMMUNICATION SERVICES
DIVISION AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF
$17,825.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE 1985-86 OPERATING BUDGET; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER 'PU INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT
CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A
PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.

WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received October 2, 1985 for the furnishing of One (1)
Communications System Analyzer to the Department of Building and
Vehicle Maintenance; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 23 potential
suppliers and 3 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
1985-86 Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, this test equipment will be used by the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance, Communication
Services Division for support of maintenance activities involved
with the City -Wide 800 MHz communications system; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Building and Vehicle Mainteridnce recommend that the
bid received from Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc. be
accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The October 2, 1985 bid of Motorola
Communications for furnishing One (1) Communications System
Analyzer to the Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance,
Communication Services Division at a total proposed cost of
$17,825.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the 1985-86 Operating Budget.

13, SERVICE AND WARRANTY: Unless otherwise specified, the bidder
shall define any warranty, service and replacements that will be
provided. Bidders must explain on an attached sheet to what extent
warranty and service facilities are provided.

to examination thereto in accordance with Chapter 119, Florida
Statutes, 1971. Items delivered not conforming to specifications may

IT IS RECOMIENDED THAT A RESOLUTION
BE PASSED ACCEPTING THE ONLY FULLY RE-
SPONSIBLE BID MEETING SPECIFICATIONS, FROM
MOTOROLA COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS,
INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) EACH
COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM ANALYZER, FOR MAIN-
TENANCE SUPPORT ON THE CITY-WIDE 800 MHz
COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM AT A TOTAL COST OF
$17,825.00.
Pursuant to the issuance of Bid #84-85-123, three (3)
bids were received for providing a Communications System
Analyzer to the Communication Services Division of the
Department of Building and Vehicle Maintenance. These
three bids were carefully analyzed by this Department
and it is determined that Motorola Communications and
Electronics, Inc., a non -minority firm, has submitted
2 the only responsible bid meeting all procurement speci-
fications. The two other vendors submitting bids are
also non -minority firms and were not responsive to
specifications.

The Communications System Analyzer shall be used by
the Communication Services Division to support mainten-
ance activities involved with the new City-wide 800 MHz
communications system.

Vehicle Maintenance Department's fiscal year 85-86 budget.
