A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE. SALE, OF
BEER AND WINE IN PEACOCK PARK IN
CONNECTION WITH THE KING MANGO STRUT
PARADE SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 29, 1985,
SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE; OF STATE
PERMITS; AND THE CLOSING OF CERTAIN
STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
DURING SPECIFIED DATES AND HOURS, SAID
STREET CLOSING SUBJECT TO ISSUANCE OF
PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE. AND
THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND
INSPECTION SERVICES AND ASSURANCES THAT
THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY
POTENTIAL LIABILITY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Upon the issuance of a temporary permit by the
Florida State Department of Business Regulations, Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to sell beer and wine, and
pursuant to the City Code, the request of Coconut Grove Jaycees
to sell beer and wine for a one -day period in connection with the
1985 King Mango Strut Parade to be held in the streets adjacent
to Peacock Park on December 29, 1985, is hereby granted in
compliances with Ordinance No. 9818, further subject to the
issuance of all permits required by law.
Section 2. In order to effectuate safe passage during the
1985 King Mango Strut Parade, the following streets are hereby
closed to through vehicular traffic during the date and hours
specified below:
a) Commodore Plaza to Main Highway
Main Highway to McFarland Road
McFarland Road to South Bayshore Drive
Sunday, December 29, 1985 - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
b) All streets and avenues intersecting the area listed
above.
Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to the
issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire,
Rescue, and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department
of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of

Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and
traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institu-
tions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 4. Such closing of streets is subject to the
organizers of the King Mango Strut Parade obtaining insurance
requirements as mandated by the City of Miami, Department of.
Finance, Risk Management Division.

wine at Peacock Park during
the event, subject to the
issuance of all permits, as
per the attached resolution".
BACKGROUND:
The Coconut Grove Jaycees have requested the closure of certain
streets and authorization to sell beer and wine in Peacock Park
during the Fourth Annual King Mango Strut Parade, scheduled for
December 29, 1985.
The Departments of Police and Parks and Recreation have reviewed
these requests and recommend approval as follows:
o That authorization for the sale of beer and
wine in Peacock Park during this event be
granted pursuant to the issuance of a
temporary permit by the Florida Department
of Business Regulations; Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, and any
other permit required by law.
o in order to provide safe passage during the
event, the following streets be closed to
through vehicular traffic during specified
date and hours:
a) Commodore Plaza to Main Highway
