FOR THE DEMOLITION OF ONE (1) COMMERCIAL WAREHOUSE LOCATED AT 65 N.W. 9TH STRH,ET IN THE OVERTOWN/I'ARKWEST DEVELOPMENT AREA TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $2 5, 000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE OVERTOVvN/PARKWEST LANs ACQUISITION PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCIVkL3L ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to pul)l.ic notice, sealed bids were received December 9, 1985 for the demolition of one (1) Cummercial 'warehouse located at 65 N.W. 9til Street in the Over town/Pa rkwest Development area to the Department of 'Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 29 potential suppliers and 4 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Overtown/Parkwest Land Acquisition Program; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of the demolition of one (1) Commercial Warehouse; and .-- WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that a the bids received from A. J. Parker, Inc. be accepted as the SF� lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAIgI, FLORIDA: „v Section 1. SUBJECT Resolution and Award of Bid for Demolition of Structures - Bid No. 85-86-21 REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: For City Commission Meeting Jan. 9- 19R6 It is recommended that an Award be made and a Resolution be pass ed acce ting the lowest responsive and responsible bid as received from A. J. Parker, Inc., a demolition contractor, for the demol tion and clearing away _fo debris from the property located at 65 N.W. 9 Street, which is already owned by the City, at a total cost of $25,000. These 7unds are to be rovide from the 1976 Gen_ 1 Obl gation Housing Bonds. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December and equipment needed to 9, 1985, for furnishing demolish and clear away materials the debris from the structure as directed by the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department, Code Enforcement Section. _ The subject building has become an eyesore. It is vacant, and represents a hazardous unsecured and a haven for for Police and vagrants, Fire responses. These conditions situation along with public concern for safety justify our request for their demolition. Funds are to be provided from the 1976 General Obligation Housing Bonds through the Overtown-Parkwest Program as part of '"� their land acquisition proceedings. V K•e.T .
