A RESOLUTION GRANTING, UPON THE
ISSUANCE OF' A TEMPORARY PERMIT BY THE
STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF
BUSINESS REGULATION, DIVISION 01,
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND TOBACCO, THE
REQUEST OF THE KIWANIS CLUB OF LITTLE
HAVANA TO SELL BEER AND WINE FOR A ONE -
DAY PERIOD IN CONNECTION WITH CARNAVAL
MIAMI' S PASEO TO BE HELD MARCH 2, 1986
ON WEST FLAGLER STREET AND S.W. I'IRST
STREET; SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF ALL
PERMITS REQUIRED LY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has planned
Carnaval Miami's Paseo along West Flagler Street and S.W. First
Street on March 2, 1986; and
WHEREAS, on November 16, 1985, by Resolution No. 85-
1167, the City Commission approved the closing of certain streets
to through vehicular traffic for the Paseo event on March 2,
1986, to insure the safety of the participants and spectators
attending the event; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has requested
permission to sell beer and wine for a one -day period on March 2,
1986, in connection with Carnaval Miami's Paseo; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9818 0£ April 5, 1984, authorized
the City Commission to permit the dispensing of beer or wine in
soft containers in any City park upon such conditions and
limitations as the City Commission shall prescribe;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Upon the issuance of a temporary permit by
the Florida State Department of Business Regulation, Division of
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, to sell beer and wine, and
pursuant to the City Code, the request of the Kiwanis Club of
Little Havana to sell/dispense beer and wine for a one -day period
in connection with Carnaval Miami's Paseo to be held on West
Flagler Street and S.W. First Street on March 2, 1986 is hereby
granted in compliance with Ordinance No. 9818, further Q

Dear Cesar:
As per our conversation, we would i ike to ask the
Miami's help for CARNAVAL MIAMI.
CARNAVAL MIAMI is a special event that will be the setting
for 5 television specials that w:.11 be br:Dadcast outside
South Florida throughout the United States and Latin America.
The breakdown is as follows:
CARNAVAL NIGHT - 1 Z hour show
PASEO - 1 1 hour show
CALLE OCHO - 1 hour shows
CALLE OCHO - 1 ? hour show
In addition to direct T.V. exposure, the international will
give ample coverage to the events, including the Today Snow
and the wire services.
We ask the City of Miami to allocate $25,000 to help us
defray the cost of the T.V. productions plus to waive the
rental fee of the Orange Bowl for CARNAVAL NIGHT.
As you can see in the enclosed brochure, the City of Miami's
help is already acknowledged. Over 100,000 of these
brochures are being distributed outside of Miam4 br the
tourism agencies and Eastern Airlines.
Please let me know when this item should be presentr-d to the
City Commission.
